2015 was the year for soccer in Vancouver. In addition to Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club games, the city was host to the World Cup FIFA Women’s Soccer, including the finals on July 5th at BC Place Stadium.

Vancouver was also lucky enough to host games during the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The city is one of many preparing to host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup as well.

The Vancouver Whitecaps are the city’s Major League Soccer team, which is the highest level league in North America. The season runs from March until October and games are played at BC Place Stadium. Each season normally features 34 games, half of which are played at home.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have official supporter groups for dedicated fans. Some groups gather for pre-game festivities at local establishments before occupying specific sections at BC Place. Ticket prices for single games typically start at about $30. Season tickets are also available for as low as $50 per month.

FIFA World Cups

Vancouver was one of six host cities of the 2015 Women’s FIFA World Cup. There were 9 games played at BC Place Stadium over the months of June and July, including the final match of the tournament. Tickets started at $30 for some games.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is also scheduled to take place in Vancouver. The men’s international soccer competition is to be held in cities across Mexico, Canada and the United States. The tournament includes 48 teams and 80 games between June 8th and July 3rd. The exact schedule of games is to be confirmed.

Host cities of the FIFA World Cup typically offer free public viewings of games on big screens. Fan Fest events feature live entertainment, games and other family-friendly activities to enjoy while supporting your country.
