The Elektra Women’s Choir is a talented group of women who sing together. Based in Vancouver, the choir hosts several concerts at different Lower Mainland locations.

Elektra Women’s Choir in Vancouver
The Elektra Women’s Choir is a large group of experienced singers in Vancouver. Originally formed in 1987, the all-women’s choir features around four dozen or so members. The group runs weekly rehearsals and puts on a few shows each year. So far, Elektra has commissioned and sung more than 100 different compositions. They are an auditioned and prize-winning ensemble that has performed around the world.
2024-2025 Season
Elektra’s 2024 to 2025 season is titled “A Season of Change.” It’s Morna Edmundson’s last year as the choir’s artistic director. She was one of the choir’s co-founders and has spent nearly 40 years leading the group. There are three main concerts this season, each of which shows twice.
Ticket prices are the same for all the concerts this season. Admission to each event costs $42 for adults, $37 for seniors and $20 for students. Season tickets are also available until October 15th, 2024. They include tickets to all three different concerts. Season tickets cost $96 for adults, $84.57 for seniors and $45.71 for students.
The Light of Hope Returning (Nov. 30 & Dec. 1, 2024)
The Light of Hope Returning is Elektra’s winter celebration. It’s an enchanting way to kick off the Christmas season. The concert features folk-inspired tunes and eternal rhythms, with music by Shawn Kirchner and visual projections by Kevork Mourad.
There are two shows on the weekend of November 30th and December 1st. The first starts at 7:30 pm on the Saturday. The second begins at 4:00 pm on the Sunday. Both concerts take place at Pacific Spirit United Church at 2195 West 45th Avenue in Vancouver.
The Lost Words: A Spell Book (Mar. 8 & 9, 2025)
The Lost Words: A Spell Book is inspired by the book of the same name by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris. The theme of the concert is to connect children with the beauty of nature. There are pieces from ten different Canadian composers. The event starts with words from Laara Sadiq before wonderful singing and watercolour projections.
The concerts happen twice in March. Both shows are held at Vancouver’s Pacific Spirit United Church (at 2195 West 45th Avenue). The first concert is at 7:30 pm on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. It takes place at 4:00 pm on the following day as well.
Legacy (May 25 & 31, 2025)
Legacy is Elektra’s farewell tribute to Morna Edmundson. The show features some of the choir’s best commissions, in addition to new pieces by Laura Hawley, Tawnie Olson and Cassie Luftspring.
There are two Legacy concerts in 2025. The first takes place at the Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 2250 150 Street in Surrey. The event begins at 3:00 pm on May 25th. The other concert starts at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 31st. It’s at Vancouver’s Christ Church Cathedral at 690 Burrard Street.
