Queen: It's A Kinda Magic

Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic is a phenomenal tribute band with concerts in Metro Vancouver and elsewhere in BC. It sounds just like Freddie Mercury and his band.

The concerts happened in the summer of 2024. The band returns to the Lower Mainland for another tour on September 19th at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver. Earlier this year they were also in Chilliwack, Coquitlam and Richmond in June. The Queen concerts will be back again in 2025 too.

Visit queenitsakindamagic.com for tickets and full details about the concerts. For tickets to the concert on September 19th, visit the Rio Theatre website.

About Queen and the Tribute Concerts

Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic isn’t just a tribute band concert featuring the songs of Freddie Mercury. It’s a complete theatrical experience! The show recreates a concert from the band’s 1986 Magic World Tour. The original tour in that year featured over 24 European destinations. It also included Freddie Mercury’s final live performance with the band. It was an iconic period of time in the British band’s history, and the modern-day show seeks to capture that magic.

At Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic you’ll experience over 20 of Freddie Mercury’s greatest hits. Some of his most famous tunes include Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, We Will Rock You and Another One Bites the Dust. The show features state-of-the-art lighting and sound. From the authentic-looking outfits to the positioning of equipment on the stage, the show demonstrates amazing attention to detail. The artists also both sing and play impressively. All put together, it makes for an exceptional Queen experience!

Queen is a British group that became one of the world’s most successful and famous Rock bands ever. Formed in 1970, it was headlined by lead singer Freddie Mercury who also played the piano. Freddie Mercury died in 1991 at the age of 45. Other members of the band were Brian May on guitar and vocals, Roger Taylor on drums and vocals, and John Deacon on bass.

Our Experience at the Queen Concert

We attended the Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic concert at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver in 2023 and it was awesome! What a terrific show! We were so impressed!

Before attending the concert we noticed that the band gets 5 out of 5 star reviews on Facebook! Not 4.9 or 4.8, but 5.0 out of 5.0. Now we know why! The music, singing, costumes and the entire experience were all perfect.

Right from the start, with the opening song, the crowd was standing up. “Freddie Mercury” said “let’s make this like a real stadium experience,” and it happened! It felt like a real Queen concert!

The band played a lot of Queen’s top songs, and the group looked and sounded so much like the real thing! The crowd was on its feet for about a third of the time and then sitting for the rest (but still swaying in their seats). Including the 20-minute intermission and around four or so encore songs, the show lasted for approximately two hours.

If you like the music of Queen, we can’t recommend this band enough. They come to British Columbia about once a year. If you get a chance, you should go! When we went, I don’t think a single person in the crowd was disappointed!

It’s A Kinda Magic Video

To give you a good idea of what one of the Queen: It’s A Kinda Magic concerts looks like, check out the video below. It shows scenes of their concert at the Vogue Theatre in June 2023. The video was taken with a non-professional camera and without any kind of special recording microphone (so the sound might not be perfect, but in real life it was pretty close).
