About Queen and the Tribute Concerts
Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic isn’t just a tribute band concert featuring the songs of Freddie Mercury. It’s a complete theatrical experience! The show recreates a concert from the band’s 1986 Magic World Tour. The original tour in that year featured over two dozen European destinations. It also included Freddie Mercury’s final live performance with the band. It was an iconic period of time in the British band’s history, and the modern-day show seeks to capture that magic.
At Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic you’ll experience over twenty of Freddie Mercury’s greatest hits. Some of his most famous tunes include ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Are the Champions’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ and ‘Under Pressure’. The show features state-of-the-art lighting and sound. From the authentic-looking outfits to the positioning of equipment on the stage, the show demonstrates amazing attention to detail. The artists also both sing and play impressively. All put together, it makes for an exceptional Queen experience!
Queen was a British group that became one of the world’s most successful and famous Rock bands ever. Formed in 1970, it was headlined by lead singer Freddie Mercury who also played the piano. Other members of the band were Brian May on guitar and vocals, Roger Taylor on drums and vocals, and John Deacon on bass.
About Tina Turner and her Tribute Concerts
The other Showtime production touring British Columbia in 2023 is TINA Simply the Best. It features the music of American super star Tina Turner.
Considered by many to be the “Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll”, Tina Turner is one of the top-selling female recording artists ever! Her genres include Rock, R&B, Pop and Soul, and her singing career spanned over four decades. The real-life singer has sold more than 100 million records and has a dozen Grammy Awards to her name. As of 2021, she has also been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Some of Tina Turner’s most well-known songs include ‘Better Be Good to Me’, ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ and ‘I Don’t Wanna Fight’. Other top hits are ‘Private Dancer’, ‘The Best’, ‘Typical Male’ and ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’. As an actress, Tina Turner is also famous for her roles in a number of films including Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in 1985. Unlike Freddie Mercury from Queen, as of early 2023, Tina Turner is still alive today, living in Switzerland (but no longer touring the world with her concerts).
The TINA Simply the Best Concerts are full-stage productions. They showcase the singer’s hits from the 1960s until the 1990s. The tribute band is touring Canada in 2023 and has concerts on Vancouver Island as well as one in Chilliwack (on June 24th).
