Bike to Work Week is a bi-annual event held in Vancouver and other communities within B.C. to encourage folk to ride their bicycles instead of driving.
POSTPONED UNTIL THE FALL!
Given that very few people are currently going to work, and that those who are shouldn’t be within 6 feet of other people, the Bike to Work Week event in May has been postponed until at least September. For details about the change of plan, see the HUB Cycling website.

Bike To Work Week 2020
Bike to Work Week usually takes place in Vancouver in late October. It also happens in the late spring or early summer, usually around the end of May and/or beginning of June.
2020 Bike to Work Week dates were going to be from May 25th to 31st and from October 19th to 25th. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, however, the May event has been postponed until the fall.
During the week people are encouraged to ride their bikes instead of driving and to log their rides online. In Vancouver, Bike to Work Week is hosted by HUB Cycling.
Folk can register for Bike to Work Week as individuals or as a team. Past registrants do not need to re-register. They can just log in and record a new trip.
Prizes are available whether you register as an individual or as a team. The grand prize in the fall of 2019 was a trip for two to cycle in the Baltics! There are also daily giveaways and other gifts to be won.
Participants are able to access “Celebration Stations” set up across Metro Vancouver. These are small booths where cyclists can stop by for free snacks, bicycle maintenance and more. During a typical week in recent years there are more than 40 stations in Vancouver. Check out the Celebration Station Map for more information.
The first Bike to Work Week event started in 1995 in Victoria with a group of cyclists. Their goal was to raise awareness about commuter cycling. The first event attracted around 500 participants.
Since 1995 the scale of the event has grown significantly. Many communities across B.C. now organize Bike to Work Week events, and some even host a Bike to School event as well. Last year there were over 50,000 participants across the province!
HUB Cycling hosts the Vancouver Bike to Work Week event. The organization was founded in 1988 to improve biking conditions in Vancouver and it now has almost 3000 members. HUB Cycling also organizes the Bike the Night event that takes place in Vancouver in September.
