Canada Day in Pitt Meadows

The town of Pitt Meadows hosts Canada Day celebrations each year in the morning and early afternoon. There aren’t big evening performances and fireworks shows like in other cities, but instead some smaller-scale entertainment. It’s a fun community event.

At the event you can expect around 2,000 people who come to enjoy the live entertainment, food and artisan vendors while celebrating another anniversary of our country. The event is free for all to enjoy.

Event Location

All of the festivities take place at šxʷhék̓ʷnəs (Spirit Square) located at 11985 Harris Road. It’s right next to City Hall.

Activities and entertainment usually take place between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Canada Day Activities

The morning of July 1st begins with a pancake breakfast in the square hosted by the Pitt Meadows Lions Club at 8:30 am. There’s also a Show & Shine where car lovers can showcase their classic vehicles. All entries into the Show & Shine receive a free breakfast.

At 9:15 am, the Dog Show Competition begins with prizes awarded for the best trick and best dressed pooches as well as for the biggest and smallest dogs.

A little later, there is usually a watermelon-eating competition open to all. For those who don’t want to fill up quite that much, there are food trucks open for business beginning at 11:00 am.

Throughout the morning and early afternoon, there is Artisan Alley which is home to numerous local vendors of all kinds. There is also a Kids’ Zone with activities for the little ones.
