The Blossom Block Party is a free one-day event in downtown Vancouver that helps celebrate the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival with music, food and fun.
The Block Party event launched last year. It happens again in 2026 on Saturday, April 4th. The Vancouver Comic & Toy Show is another event of note that takes place at the PNE Forum a month before the Block Party, so on March 14th and 15th in 2026. Also happening around spring time are the Chilliwack Plowing Match, Spring at the Farm at Maan Farms, Sweet Spring at Greendale Acres, Petey’s Easter Eggstravaganza, and both A Night of Illumination and Family Glow Night at Fantasy Farms in the Fraser Valley.

The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Block Party
The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival takes place from March 27th to April 12th in 2026. There are a number of different events that happen over the course of the festival. A new one that debuted last year is the Blossom Block Party.
The Block Party happens on April 4th in 2026. It’s free to attend and takes place outdoors (so make sure to check the forecast and dress appropriately). There are DJs playing music throughout the day, as well as a pop-up bar, fun activities for kids, and more.
The event is run by both the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival and Public Disco. Public Disco is a non-profit organization that puts on various music events throughout Metro Vancouver. Some are free and some require paid admission. The Blossom Block Party is one of the free ones!
Where and When?
The Blossom Block Party happens on the Dunsmuir Patio at the Bentall Centre in downtown Vancouver. It’s on Saturday, April 4th, 2026. The venue’s address is 1055 Dunsmuir Street. It’s right next to Burrard SkyTrain Station.
The fun begins a around 2:00 pm and runs until about 9:00 pm. The event is open to everyone and there are no tickets involved. People can come and go as they please.
What to Expect at the Block Party
At the Blossom Block Party there are a series of DJs keeping the music playing all afternoon and evening. Last year’s lineup included local DJs Dairy Free, Esette, Abasi and SOULDOZE. The 2026 entertainment schedule is to be confirmed.
While the Block Party is an all ages event, there’s also a pop-up bar serving drinks to those who are 19+. Last year there were some snacks and non-alcoholic drinks served by Lee’s Donuts and FUNK Coffee Bar, although there weren’t food trucks serving full meals of food. Whether this is the case again in 2026 is to be confirmed. If not, those who are hungry can always head out to one of the many great Bars and Restaurants in the downtown area and then return to the block party afterwards.
Last year’s event featured a Kids Zone with activities for the little ones. There was also a designated dance tent so the party mood wouldn’t be dampened if it rained.
More Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival Events
There are plenty of fun other events happening throughout the run of the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. One of the first major ones in 2026 is the Big Picnic at David Lam Park from March 28th to 29th. That’s when people bring their food and blankets to the park and take in the view of the cherry blossoms while also enjoying various Japanese-themed ceremonies and activities.
Then there’s the Sakura Days Japan Fair happening at VanDusen Botanical Garden on the weekend of April 11th and 12th in 2026. The fair is a ticketed event and includes plenty of music, cultural performances, tea ceremonies and more to enjoy.
Other events at the festival include Bike the Blossoms (a guided cycling tour through cherry blossom hotspots) and Blossoms After Dark (where cherry blossom trees are illuminated in the evening at David Lam Park). Check out our Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival for more details on all of the events.
