Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween Market in Vancouver

The Nightmare Before Christmas Market is a popular annual event. Don’t get confused by its name. This is not a Christmas-themed market. The Nightmare Before Christmas Market is a Halloween event that runs for two days in October each year. It features dozens of vendors selling a variety of unique products. There are also kid-friendly activities, and Halloween costumes are encouraged. This is the place to dress to express, be it in costume or just letting your true style shine.

The market started out in 2017 in New Westminster but has since grown and come to Vancouver. Last year the market happened at the Maritime Labour Centre at 1880 Triumph Street in Vancouver. It took place on Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th.

Hours and Admission

The Nightmare Before Christmas Market runs on a weekend in October. Saturday hours are usually from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. Sunday hours are from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Tickets are available both online and at the door. General admission for each day last year cost $4 in advance or $5 at the door. Weekend passes were also available online for $7 per person and they include access to the market on both days. Tickets are required for everyone ages 14 and over. Children ages 13 and under can get in for free.

The event happens at the Maritime Labour Centre at 1880 Triumph Street. The venue is near Powell and Victoria Streets in East Vancouver, not far from the Parallel 49 Brewery. There is on-site parking and lots of free, unrestricted street parking nearby.

(TIP: Last year the first 67 admission-paying market goers received $5 in market money to spend at the booth of their choice! This may happen again in 2025 or it may not. Details are to be confirmed.)

What to Expect

The Nightmare Before Christmas Market is a family-friendly event. Expect to see people of all ages (some of which will be walking around in their favourite costumes, which is always a fun sight to see).

There are more than 65 vendors and food trucks selling a wide range of unique and wonderful things.

This Halloween-themed market celebrates everything weird and wacky, unlike other artisan markets. It’s an opportunity to browse and buy unique products a few weeks before Halloween and a couple of months before Christmas.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Market also features activities for kids. There are craft activities and face painting. Expect to see cosplayers roaming around the venue. Food trucks and Vancouver’s Coffee Bike are on-site as well.

There was also Koquetta Accessories, Kwest Costume Art, Leftover Hippies Incense, Loucifer’s Boutique, Love of Gothic, Madam Radical, Magical Reveries, Nearly Contained Chaos, Nerds in Leather, Nuclear Jackal, Pink Bubble Bath Co., Pretty But Odd, and Shewolf Tea.
