The Big Easter Run and Gnubees Egg Hunt

A fun and healthy way to celebrate Easter each year is to participate in the Big Easter Run. It’s an event where people dress up in festive costumes and run along Vancouver’s scenic waterfront. The route options are usually easy and fun for all ages, and there are different distances to choose from. At the event, there is also the Gnubees Egg Hunt for kids who enter the 1K to 3K run.

The Big Easter Run is one of several runs in The Big Fun Run Series. There are running events at different times throughout the year, each with its own theme. The Big Elf Run, for example, takes place in December and has a Christmas theme. Other runs in the series include the Big Jungle Run in May, Big Pirate Run in September, and Big Halloween Run in October.

In past years, there have also been the Big 80’s Run in March and the Big Superhero Run in August. These two events didn’t happen in 2025, but they might happen again.

With the Big Easter Run, all participants get a complimentary pair of bunny ears. With the Big Elf Run, on the other hand, everyone gets an elf toque. Every run is different.

About The Big Fun Run Series

The Big Fun Run Series includes participants of all types, such as those in wheelchairs or those who want to run with their dogs. The runs are not meant to be competitive, so they’re not really races. Instead, each run is all about having fun and cheering everyone on as they cross the finish line.

As with other events in The Big Fun Run Series, the Big Easter Run has a charitable beneficiary. Last year, it was KidSport BC, which is a non-profit organization that helps kids who need financial assistance participate in sports. This may or may not be the same charitable organization in 2026. Details are to be confirmed.

When and Where?

2026 marks the 11th year of the Big Easter Run. It likely happens on Saturday, April 4th. The event begins and ends at Jericho Beach Park, located at 3941 Point Grey Road in the City of Vancouver.

Of course, while in the area, it’s a good opportunity to explore Jericho Beach and take in the beautiful views of the North Shore Mountains and Vancouver skyline. Jericho Beach is one of the best that the city has to offer. It has a huge stretch of sand that gets busy in the summer. It’s too cold for a swim in April (at least for most people). It’s a beautiful spot, though, any time of the year.

Fun Run Rates

In 2025, the cost for the 1K to 3K Kids Run started at $26 per person. The 5K and 10K distances, meanwhile, started at $35 or $37 per person, or $28 for people under 18. There are bundle deals available as well. Registering for 4 or more people gave a 15% off discount for each entry. 2026 prices are to be confirmed, though they will likely be comparable to last year.

Participants can have their Run Kit mailed to them for around $9, or pick it up in advance. Advance pickup last year was between 12:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Kintec, 1201 West Broadway in Vancouver.

Registration includes a bib with a custom name, a chocolate medal, and bunny ears. All participants have the opportunity to win a prize.

Tips & Advice

Below are some suggestions to help you get the most out of the Big Fun Easter Run experience.

TIP #1: Remember to bring a reusable water bottle to the event. There is a water station on-site where you can fill your bottle up throughout the day.

TIP #2: Although this run is for all ages, there is a time limit. Everyone needs to complete their run in just over two hours. That should be more than enough time for most people. Check the Big Fun Run Series website closer to the event date to view the running route in advance.

TIP #3: If you don’t want to receive your run kit in the mail and you can’t make the pick-up date, you can pick up your kit at Jericho Beach Park one hour before the runs start. It’s best to get it in advance, though.

TIP #4: You don’t have to wear a costume or run fast, but there are prizes if you do. Examples of prize categories include Fastest Male & Female Bunnies in the 5K and 10K runs, as well as prizes for best costume, best photo, best custom bib name, and best pet costume.
