The Harrison Dragon Boat Festival is a lively summer event filled with races and scenic views. Each year, paddlers and attendees gather at Harrison Lake for a full day of racing, cheering and community spirit. Whether you’re racing in a boat or watching from the shore, the festival offers something for everyone to enjoy. It’s the perfect blend of sport, nature and summer celebration.
Where and When
The Harrison Dragon Boat Festival took place on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at Harrison Hot Springs. This free public event is open to all and attracts paddlers and fans from across the region. Harrison Hot Springs turns into a busy, fun place for the day with races, crowds and lots of energy by the lake.
What to Expect
The day typically starts early as teams arrive to set up tents, with the Race Registrar opening at 7:30 am. A team meeting for administrators, captains and steerspersons takes place at 8:30 am near the marshalling area. Marshalling begins at 9:00 am, about 30 minutes before each race. The first races of the day officially start at 9:30 am.
At the event visitors can explore sponsor and vendor booths selling everything from festival gear to paddling equipment and snacks. Participating sponsors include Oddball Workshop, Real Canadian Superstore, Fraser Valley Paddling Club’s Paddle Shack, and Burnwater which is known for its carbon fibre paddles.
In between races, attendees can visit the festival marketplace and enjoy the warm summer atmosphere. Additionally, there is plenty of action on the water and lots to see on land. It is a fun day for families and visitors.
Registration Information
Dragon boat teams can register in Mixed or Women’s divisions with a standard race program of three 500m races (subject to change). All teams must register, submit rosters and complete waivers online.
Race registration fees in 2025 were the following:
- Premier (Adult) Teams – $1,150
- All Access Teams (Senior C/BCS/24U) – $950
- Junior Teams – $750
Each team can have up to 26 paddlers with a temporary allowance of up to 30, although only 26 medals will be awarded. Junior teams can register up to 30 paddlers.
Teams are encouraged to register early to secure their spot at this popular summer event.
