Vancouver’s Greek Day on Broadway

Greek Day on Broadway

Greek Day on Broadway is a Vancouver street party in late June. It features Greek culture, food, music, entertainment and market vendors in Kitsilano.

In 2024 the Greek Day on Broadway festival happens on June 23rd. That is the same weekend as a number of other free Metro Vancouver events including the Shipyards Night Market and Lynn Valley Day on the North Shore. The Vancouver Jazz Festival also happens in late June.

To learn about what else is happening around the same time, see our June Calendar of Events. To learn about Greek Day on Broadway, continue reading.

Vancouver Greek Street Party

Greek Day on Broadway is one of Vancouver’s premier pedestrian-only events. It attracts tens of thousands of people most years and is apparently Vancouver’s longest-running festival. Greeks and non-Greeks throng the street indulging in famous Greek food (e.g. souvlaki) and watching traditional Greek dancing such as Zorba. There are also a number of Greek pastry stores on Broadway that will tempt you to pop in and buy an authentic Greek pastry such as baklava.

Where and When

In 2024 Greek Day on Broadway takes place on Sunday, June 23rd.

The street party is held on West Broadway in Kitsilano along the five blocks between MacDonald and Blenheim, so from the 2800 block of Broadway to the 3200 block. It typically runs from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm.

Greek Day Activities

Activities at the Greek Day on Broadway event usually include a Kids’ Zone, cooking demonstrations, and live entertainment including performances by various community Greek dance groups, many of whom also often perform at the Greek Food Festival in Surrey earlier in June.

If you like Greek food and Greek music (who doesn’t!), or just want to have fun while learning more about Greek culture, this is a great event to check out.

Greek Day on Broadway Video

To give you a good idea of what Greek Day on Broadway looks like, check out the video below. It shows what the event looked like in 2022.

As you’ll see in the video, West Broadway is lined with vendor stalls and the street is full of people. The main stage is at the far west end of the venue, but there is music in other places too. There is also lots of delicious food for sale from various vendors.
