Christmas in Williams Park

Christmas in Williams Park is a free drive-through-style event in Langley. You can explore it from your car in the first half of December.

After nearly being cancelled this year due to manpower availability from the Township of Langley workers to put up and tear down the Christmas lights displays, the beloved event is back on. In 2023, it runs nightly from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm between December 1st and 17th.

The Christmas lights event in Williams Park is one of a number of winter holiday attractions in Langley. Others include the Glow Christmas Carnival and Martini Town Merry & Bright (both of which are awesome and highly recommended)!

Drive-Thru Christmas Lights Attraction in Langley

Christmas in Williams Park is a drive-thru event hosted by the Christmas In Williams Park Society. The public is welcome to drive around the park and admire the decorations from the comfort of their cars.

Where and When

Williams Park is at 68th Avenue and 238 Street in the Township of Langley. It’s about a 10-minute drive from Trinity Western University, the Canadian Museum of Flight and the Greater Vancouver Zoo. It’s also about a 15-minute drive northeast of the City of Langley (which is a different municipality from the Township of Langley).

The park hosts the Christmas displays and illuminations for the 33rd time in 2023 when the lights are on from December 1st to the 17th.

The free drive-through event is open to the public nightly between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

About Christmas in Williams Park

Christmas in Williams Park has been running for 33 years! It’s an annual display of lights hosted by Langley’s Christmas In Williams Park Society. This volunteer-run society relies on donations to keep the free event running every Christmas. Consider donating to keep the event going in future years if planning to drive through the park this holiday season.

What to Expect

In December Williams Park turns into a Christmas wonderland with many twinkling lights adorned throughout. If there’s some snow on the ground, the allure is even more magical. The experience adds to the build-up to Christmas.

This free event is fun to attend at night and can be enjoyed from the warmth and comfort of your car. The displays dazzle people of all ages and make for colourful photo opportunities. If the park isn’t too busy on the night you visit, you can drive through again to see the displays for a second time.

At the event you can expect to see lots of families in their cars driving around and admiring the holiday illuminations. It’s a bit like Lights at Lafarge in Coquitlam, or Bright Nights at Stanley Park, but from your vehicle and without the Stanley Park train. It’s also a bit like some of the drive-thru Christmas events that happened in the early days of the COVID pandemic, like at Glow Langley and the PNE a couple of years ago.

Christmas in Williams Park is a great event for a number of reasons. It’s beautiful as well as free. It’s accessible for people who find it hard to walk around (assuming you have access to a vehicle). And finally, it’s something you can do on a rainy day without getting wet (unless you drive around with your windows open so you can see better).

During the event’s final week in 2022, so between December 12th and 18th, Key Largo Electric Ltd., a generous supporter of the Christmas in Williams Park event, donated 14 Save-On gift cards. Each night over that final week, two draws were made and gift cards handed out to two lucky visitors attending the event. Maybe similar gift donations will happen in 2023, or maybe not.
