The BC Family Day Holiday Weekend is celebrated in February at Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain with kid-friendly activities and fireworks at night.

In 2025 Family Day is on the Monday of February 17th. There will likely be special activities throughout the long weekend at Cypress this year. Exact details, however, are to be confirmed.

Family Day Weekend at Cypress

In 2024 Family Day was on Monday, February 19th. Next year, the holiday is on Febriuary 17th. All sorts of family-friendly activities take place throughout the weekend across the Lower Mainland during this public holiday.

Over the Family Day long weekend, some (but not all) ski hills in the region usually offer some kind of special deal, including free or discounted ski and other snow sport passes.

Cypress Mountain has offered ticket discounts on the Family Day long weekend for children in the past, but at the time of writing this, it wasn’t clear if the resort would be doing the same in 2024. And whether it does again in 2025, we don’t know.

Cypress Family Day Deal

In previous years, Cypress Mountain offered an assortment of special family-friendly activities as well as discounted passes for children on the Family Day long weekend.

Skiing, snowshoeing and tubing tickets at Cypress were 50% off for children on the Friday evening and all day on the Saturday, Sunday and holiday Monday of the February long weekend. Unfortunately, this hasn’t been the case since 2019.

Last year there were still special activities for all ages over the long weekend. There were fireworks on the Sunday night, as well as live entertainment, games and more on all three days.

Below was the event schedule for the Family Day long weekend at Cypress Mountain in 2024. The Tube Park had a special theme on the Saturday and Monday. In addition to the listed activities, all three days also included treats, games and food and drink specials. What’s happening at Cypress on the long weekend in 2025 is to be confirmed. It will likely, however, be similar to last year.

9:30 pm to 11:00 am – Pancake breakfast at Hollyburn Lodge.
12:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Emmett Jerome performed on the Patio.
12:00 pm to 4:30 pm – Face painting and balloon art at the Tube Park and Patio.
4:00 pm to 7:00 pm – DJ Matt Shepherd played music on the Patio.
6:00 pm – Fireworks display.

Everyone was encouraged to dress up as their favourite cartoon characters on this day.
