Christmas Night Market at Lights at LaFarge

Lights at LaFarge is one of Metro Vancouver’s best Christmas lights attractions, and it’s free! In years that the event happens, it features beautiful Christmas illuminations around the landmark lake and it runs from late November until around mid-January each year.

The Coquitlam Christmas Night Market is an artisan craft fair that took place for the first time during Lights at LaFarge on the last Sunday before Christmas in 2019. It’s a medium-sized craft fair, with around 3 dozen or so vendors, and it’s a really nice one (both for the quality of the participating vendors and for the location).

If you plan to visit Lights at LaFarge, which you should, a great day to do so is when the Coquitlam Christmas Night Market takes place (especially if you haven’t yet finished your Christmas shopping).

About the Night Market

The Coquitlam Christmas Night Market takes place indoors at the Evergreen Cultural Centre which can be found at 1205 Pinetree Way in the southwest corner of Coquitlam‘s Town Centre Park. It’s right by both LaFarge Lake and the Lafarge Lake-Douglas SkyTrain Station.

In 2022 the market runs on Friday, December 2nd, and Saturday, December 3rd. Hours are from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday and 4:00 to 9:00 pm on Saturday. This year, admission costs $2 with partial proceeds benefitting the children’s hospital. Kids enter the market for free.

The Coquitlam Christmas Night Market is a fairly typical holiday craft fair, except that it’s at night and there is an amazing free winter holiday light attraction right outside. Other than that, it’s a typical high-quality market. So if you like craft fairs and Christmas lights, you’ll love this one.

Artisan products at the market will likely include the usual selection of jewellery, toys, apparel and accessories, health and beauty products, gourmet chocolates and other handmade creations. Hot drinks, including special “adult beverages,” are also normally available for sale, and there is typically a small designated children’s play area.

The market is a perfect place to do last-minute holiday shopping, and a walk around LaFarge Lake is a fine way to get into a festive spirit while doing light exercise at the same time. Checking out both the lights and the market on the same day is guaranteed to make you feel exceptionally Christmas-y!

The Coquitlam Christmas Night Market is a family-friendly event, and it’s wheelchair-accessible too (as is the Lights at LaFarge Christmas attraction). Both are highly recommended. Expect there to be lots of people!
