Celebrate BC is a festival on the BC Day Long Weekend. Last year it happened in just Coquitlam. In 2026 it happens in Port Moody too, at Rocky Point Park.

The main focus of this article is on the Celebrate BC event at Rocky Point Park this year. Below, however, you’ll also find information about the event in Coquitlam, at Town Centre Park. The first event happens on August 1st. The second is on the BC Day holiday Monday of August 3rd.

BC Day Events in Port Moody and Coquitlam

Celebrate BC is a free family-friendly festival that celebrates British Columbia’s culture, communities, history and Indigenous heritage over the BC Day Long Weekend.

The annual event takes place over two days in a couple of Metro Vancouver communities. In 2026 the opening day is held at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody while the second day takes place at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam. The festival is presented in partnership with Indigenous communities, local municipalities and community organizations. Both events feature live entertainment, cultural activities, local food and family-friendly experiences.

When and Where

The first Celebrate BC takes place at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody on the Saturday of the BC Day Long Weekend. In 2026 that’s August 1st. Part two happens a couple of days later at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam on the holiday Monday, on August 3rd. The festival takes place at two venues: Rocky Point Park at 2800 Murray Street in Port Moody and then Town Centre Park at 1299 Pinetree Way in Coquitlam.

The 2026 Port Moody event takes place on Saturday, August 1st, from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm with the official opening ceremony beginning at 11:30 am. The Coquitlam event follows on Monday, August 3rd. It runs from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm with its official opening also taking place at 11:30 am.

Note: 2026 is the second year that Celebrate BC has happened in Coquitlam. It’s the first year, however, that it also takes place in Port Moody.

What to Expect at Celebrate BC

Both events celebrate British Columbia through Indigenous culture, outdoor activities, local food trucks and live entertainment. Visitors can enjoy cultural performances, family-friendly activities, artisan vendors and opportunities to learn about Indigenous traditions while exploring two of Metro Vancouver’s most scenic parks.

At the Port Moody event, one of the day’s most popular attractions is the BC Blueberry Pancake Breakfast which offers a classic British Columbia breakfast prepared with local ingredients. It costs just $5. Another featured activity is the Canoe Paddle Adventures where visitors can experience guided paddling sessions on the water for $10 per person. Both activities require advance reservations due to their popularity.

Throughout the day, local food trucks serve a variety of meals and snacks with every vendor offering at least one $10 menu item. The Indigenous Village Market features handcrafted artwork, jewellery, clothing, carvings and other products created by Indigenous artists and businesses from across the region.

Live entertainment takes place throughout the day in Port Moody on the Rocky Point Stage. The lineup includes Indigenous performers, local musicians, dancers and cultural groups. Families can also visit the Kid Zone where children can enjoy games, activities and interactive entertainment.

Entertainment and Cultural Experiences

Live entertainment takes place throughout the festival with a variety of Indigenous performances, music and cultural presentations. The stage on both days features local performers celebrating the traditions and cultures that make British Columbia unique. The event also allows community organizations to present educational exhibits and interactive activities around the park.

The schedule for the event at Town Centre Park is similar, although it runs until a couple of hours later. Also at the Coquitlam event, the artists performing are George Leach and Venus & Mars. BC Day Festival in Coquitlam

The Port Moody celebration serves as the opening day of the two-day festival. Activities continue on the BC Day holiday Monday at Town Centre Park in Coquitlam. Visitors at the second event can enjoy additional attractions including BC’s largest Wild Salmon Barbecue, the BC Fast & Furriest’s Corgi and Dachshund races, live music, an Indigenous Village Market, a Kid Zone, and Food Truck Alley which includes special $10 menu items.
