Surrey’s Celebration of the Philippines and Filipino Food and Culture

The Museum of Surrey hosts its annual Filipino Fest event in September. The event is an afternoon of fun that’s meant for everyone to enjoy.

In 2026 Filipino Fest happens on Saturday, September 12th. It runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm and it’s free to attend. The organizers encourage visitors to come with an appetite and be ready to explore all of what Filipino culture is about.

The museum puts on other fun events at different times of the year as well. In March, for example, there’s Celtic Fest, which is a celebration of Celtic culture. That event happens about a week or so before St. Patrick’s Day. There’s also WinterFest which runs from late November until close to Christmas. It features various fun activities along with a large selection of decorated Christmas trees.

Where Does Filipino Fest Take Place?

Filipino Fest takes place at the Museum of Surrey, both indoors and outside. The venue’s address is 17710 56a Avenue in Cloverdale. One great thing about the location is that the museum is completely free to visit! The same goes for its special events.

Parking in the museum’s lot is free as well, although space is somewhat limited. If you’re driving to Filipino Fest, and want to make sure to snag a spot, then it might be worth arriving earlier than later.

Some of the activities at Filipino Fest take place inside the museum itself. Other things, including the food vendors, set up outside in the plaza between the museum and the Surrey Archive’s building.

What to Expect at Filipino Fest

One of the highlights of Filipino Fest is the array of food trucks and other vendors at the event. The list for 2026 includes Cake It Easy, Dale’s Food Products, Kasalo, Nanay Kitchen and the Timplado Filipino Street Food Truck.

In addition to the food there are cultural performances and different activities to give a taste of the Philippines. That includes textile displays and storytelling sessions in both English and Tagalog.

There are also plenty of live music and dance performances. Entertainers at the 2026 event include Glisha, the Grupo Ilocano Association of BC, The Kuyas, Mabuhay Arnis, Raffy Swap One, and Red Filos.

Upwards of 1,500 people have attended Filipino Fest in past years! It’s a decent-sized event and a good cultural experience.
