Brewhall, a beer hall on 2nd Avenue near Olympic Village, is part of the Tap & Barrel chain of restaurants in Vancouver. It also operates as a craft brewery.
Note: Brewhall is unrelated to Brewhalla which is a series of great music and craft beer festivals. They include ones in North Vancouver and Fort Langley in the spring. See the brewhalla.ca website to learn about the Brewhalla Festivals. Continue reading to learn about the Brewhall Pub.
Brewhall Beer Hall in Vancouver
The Tap & Barrel chain of restaurants has five locations. They are in Olympic Village, at the Vancouver Convention Centre, in North Vancouver’s Shipyards District and on Granville Island (at the Bridges restaurant location). The newest location is in South Surrey at 207-3211 152nd Street (near the intersection of 152nd and Highway #99, about 5 km north of White Rock). Brewhall is the sixth location in the chain, but the only one without the Tap and Barrel name.
Brewhall is more of a bar than a restaurant, unlike the five Tap & Barrel restaurants. The beer hall has its own menu and a more basic venue. The main floor of the bar is wide open, with a high ceiling. There are giant TV screens on the walls, arcade games along one wall, a bar in the middle, and a mix of high tables and long tables. Upstairs, there is an area with more seating. It’s the long tables that give it a beer hall feel, along with the look of the wood building with its high ceiling.
Brewhall is a cool place, but slightly simpler and less fancy than its Tap & Barrel cousins. It’s also a bit less expensive.
What to Expect
Brewhall is a large pub with a social atmosphere and a sporty feel, especially during football season. Live games are often shown on screens throughout the space with sound, and it can get loud and busy.
The menu focuses on comfort food like burgers and pizzas, as well as shareable plates like pretzels and nachos. Most plates cost between about $18 and $25. Brewhall also has a happy hour that runs all day on Mondays. Regular happy hour is from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm Tuesday to Saturday, and from 9:00 pm to closing Sunday to Thursday.
Brewhall works well for big groups, game days, and relaxed meals that want a lively atmosphere. It’s a good place to go during the daytime.
Where is the Brewhall Bar and Restaurant?
Brewhall is located in what appears to be an old heritage building. In fact, it’s kind of new and kind of old. It’s not an old building. More than 80% of the structure, however, is made of reclaimed and recycled materials, some of which are old.
The venue’s address is #97 East 2nd Avenue. It’s a block or two west of Main Street and a couple of blocks south of Vancouver’s Olympic Village.

Brewhall Brewery & Craft Beers
The Brewhall Brewery produces a wide variety of craft beers on-site at its 2nd Avenue location. They include pale ales, IPAs, sours, Kölsch, pilsners, lagers, and other craft beers. You can buy their beers by the can or on tap at the Brewhall and various Tap & Barrel restaurants. It’s also available at some liquor stores, and you can buy 4-packs to go from the venue itself.
