Vancouver’s Residence Inn Hotel

Recently renovated, the Residence Inn by Marriott is the only branded all-suites hotel in downtown Vancouver. The hotel is designed to accommodate both short-term and long-term visitors with full kitchens in all rooms, free Wi-Fi and free breakfast. With a TripAdvisor walk score of 100, the hotel also has a great location close to a multitude of shops and restaurants.

For business people there is also a small boardroom available on-site. The room can host up to 12 people. Other business services at the hotel include computer stations, copy and fax services and package delivery.

Where is the Residence Inn?

The Residence Inn by Marriott is at 1234 Hornby Street in downtown Vancouver. The hotel isn’t far from the Davie Street Village in Vancouver’s West End. It’s also fairly close to major attractions. From the Residence Inn it’s about an 11-minute walk to the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Granville Island is just a seven-minute drive away.

Hotel Amenities

The hotel has a variety of amenities for both long- and short-term guests. The fitness centre is open 24/7. It’s equipped with both cardio and free weight equipment. There is also a heated indoor pool equipped with a wheelchair lift for those with mobility issues. The place also has a hot tub.

Just outside the pool area is the hotel’s outdoor patio. The area has a variety of chairs and lounges to enjoy when the weather is nice. There is also an outdoor fire pit, and a barbecue for folks wanting to cook their own food (or at least there was when we stayed there in the fall of 2018).

The Residence Inn by Marriott is a pet-friendly hotel. Visitors can bring a maximum of two pets with a weight limit of up to 23 kilograms per room. A non-refundable pet deposit does apply (which as of the fall of 2023 is $75).

Free high-speed Internet is also available in all rooms as well as the hotel common areas. Daily complimentary hot breakfast is also included.

The hotel has 201 suites on 21 floors. It also has a non-smoking policy.

As of the fall of 2023, parking costs $6 per hour or $31 per night. An electric vehicle charging station is also available.

Long-Term Amenities

The hotel also has services available for guests booking extended stays. Laundry services can be found within the hotel for an extra charge. Parking can be purchased daily or for a flat monthly rate. In addition, all rooms come equipped with a full kitchen and enhanced work stations.

Dining at the Residence Inn

Although the Residence Inn does have a barbecue on its outdoor patio, there are no on-site dining options at the hotel itself (other than its breakfast dining room). However, there is no shortage of food options in the area.

The core of downtown Vancouver is home to many restaurants. There are a number of places close by. There are also places within Davie Village, just a few blocks up on Davie Street, and along the Granville Strip.

For an idea of what a room and the swimming pool area at the hotel look like, check out the following video. As you’ll see, the rooms are a good size and come with a small kitchen area. The swimming pool is also a nice size.

What you won’t see in the video is that inside the cupboards of the kitchen are plates, kitchen utensils and a pot and pan. The kitchen area is small, but also very practical and nice to have.
