Vancouver’s Burrard Hotel

The Burrard Hotel

The Burrard Hotel is a “retro-style” 3-star budget-friendly hotel located near Davie Street at 1100 Burrard Street in downtown Vancouver.

The hotel is nice, simple and affordable. In its small courtyard it has palm trees.

The Burrard Hotel

Originally a drive-in motel that opened in 1956, The Burrard has been renovated to provide guests with more modern rooms, furnishings and amenities while also preserving the hotel’s “retro” style. It has 72 rooms and is situated across the street from St. Paul’s Hospital.

Located right on Burrard Street, the hotel is close to several main Vancouver attractions and places of interest. Just a short walk away is Granville Street, Vancouver’s street famous for shopping, nightlife and entertainment. Just around the corner is Davie Street which leads down to English Bay and the seawall. Davie Street is also where you’ll find Davie Village, rainbow-coloured sidewalks and heart of Vancouver’s gay subculture.

From the seawall at English Bay there are also great cycling and walking pathways all the way to Stanley Park. Also within a 10-minute walk is the core of downtown Vancouver.

What to Expect

Within the rooms, guests can expect to see retro stylings coupled with modern amenities. All rooms come with a Nespresso coffee machine, 42″ HDTV and free bottled water. Kids under 12 stay free and the place has pet-friendly rooms (although it is an extra charge).

The hotel itself features several amenities for guests. There are two restaurants, a garden courtyard for ping pong and lounging, and an electric vehicle charging station. For services like guest laundry and parking there is an extra charge. If the weather is less than optimal, umbrellas are available for use. There are also free bike rentals and complimentary passes to the Steve Nash gym.

Elysian Café and Burgoo are two restaurants on-site at The Burrard. At Elysian, expect to see typical café food such as coffee, espresso and snacks plus beer on tap and wine. Burgoo is a popular comfort-food joint, so expect to see dishes like rich soups, mac and cheese and other such fare.
