Free Vancouver Jazz Festival Concerts

TD Vancovuer Jazz Festival

The 2019 Vancouver International Jazz Festival runs from June 21 until July 1 and includes dozens of both free and ticketed jazz performances.

In 2019 the event begins on Friday June 21st and finishes on Canada Day on the first day of July.

Free Concerts in 2019

Not all concert details have been announced yet for 2019. Below are a few of the free performances that we already know about. More will be added over time. Further below is the concert lineup from last year (to give you an idea of what more to expect in 2019).

  • Briga & Absinthe Trio – the group entertains for free at North Vancouver’s Civic Plaza at 141 West 14th Street at 1:00 pm. (Saturday, June 22)
  • Cousin Harley – the trio performs Rockabilly tunes for free at North Vancouver’s Lynn Valley Village at 1:00 pm. (Sunday, June 23)
  • Luca Benedetti Trio – the trio of musicians entertain for free at the West Vancouver Memorial Library at 7:30 pm. (Friday, June 28)
  • Terminal Station – a Blues-Rock band offer a free concert at North Vancouver’s Civic Plaza in at 1:00 pm. (Saturday, June 29)

2018 Jazz Venue Locations

Below is a list of the various venues for most of the free jazz festival concerts in 2018. 2019 details will be similar.

  • Performance Works – at 1218 Cartwright Street on Granville Island. Performances here take place most days at 2:30 pm, but all day long on July 1st.
  • Granville Island Public Market Stage – outside the Public Market on the northwest corner of Granville Island. Performances at this venue occur every day at noon.
  • Robson Street Stage – outside the Vancouver Art Gallery at the corner of Robson Street and Hornby on the Saturday and Sunday of June 24th and 25th.
  • Georgia Street Stage – outside the Vancouver Art Gallery in the Plaza at the corner of Georgia Street and Hornby throughout the day on the weekend of June 23-24.
  • Ironworks Studios – a multi-purpose art and culture centre at 235 Alexander Street in the Downtown East Side.
  • Jazz Concerts by VenuesSt. Andrew’s Wesley United Church – a beautiful venue at 1022 Nelson Street on the corner with Burrard Street featuring jazz every weekday at noon and on Sundays at 4 pm.
  • Railspur Stage – in the middle/eastern area of Granville Island at various times on Canada Day.
  • David Lam Park – in the Yaletown part of False Creek at 1300 Pacific Boulevard. Free performances take place here all afternoon and evening on the weekend of July 1st and 2nd.

Both free and ticketed concerts take place at other venues too. Addresses for those not listed above are given below.
