PADDLEWHEELER REOPENING

Due to the spread of COVID-19 the New Westminster Paddlewheeler was not operating for several months. Now, as of July 1st, 2020, the cruises are up and running again.

New Westminster’s Paddlewheeler runs regularly between early May and late September. It also offers special holiday-themed cruises at St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween and Christmas.

We at Vancouver’s Best Places have never actually been on one of their trips, but they sound enjoyable. Last time we checked, Google Reviews gave them a 3.8 score out of 5, and a bit higher with Yelp, so that’s fairly good.

If you ever happen to be in New Westminster and are wondering what to do, check them out.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise

Vancouver Paddlewheeler Riverboat tours offers a romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise each year on February 14th. In 2020 the event ran from 7:00 until 10:00 pm and featured a three-course meal.

Ticket prices for the 2020 event were around $125 for a couple or $65 for a single ticket, plus taxes and gratuity.

St. Patrick’s Day Cruises

In the spring Vancouver Paddlewheeler Riverboat Tours offers a couple of Irish-themed cruises. They are for adults only (ages 19+) and take place on a Friday and Saturday night close to St. Patrick’s Day (which is always on March 17th). Both trips usually run from around 7:00 until 10:00 pm, cost about $50 (including taxes) and feature DJ music. Food and drinks cost extra.

In 2020 the St. Patrick’s Day cruises run on March 13th and 14th.

TIP: If you like the idea of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day out on the water, but don’t want to head all the way to New Westminster, check out Vancouver Boat Parties which offers cruises around False Creek, English Bay and Vancouver Harbour.

In 2020 the Vancouver-based (non-New Westminster) boat party takes place on Saturday, March 21st. Prices for it start as low as $25 (for super-early-bird tickets) or $45 (for single regular admission). The views of Vancouver on this party boat are amazing!

Christmas Cruises

During the holiday season Vancouver Paddlewheeler Riverboat Tours offers several Christmas-themed cruises. These cruises are suitable for folk of all ages and take place all through the month of December leading up to the holiday.

Guests can choose from four different cruises during the Christmas season. There’s the Christmas Dinner Cruises, Fort Langley’s “Christmas in the Village” Cruise, Family Fun on the Paddlewheeler and Christmas Carol Evening River Cruise.

Prices vary depending on the cruise, ranging from around $40 to $125 or so per adult. Children’s tickets range from around $20 to $55, and children ages 4 and under are usually free. All prices are plus taxes and tips.

New Year’s Eve Cruise

Vancouver Paddlewheeler Riverboat Tours offers an adults-only New Year’s Eve cruise on December 31st, which is on a Thursday in 2020. It’s a four hour special event and includes music, dancing, appetizers and a glass of champagne at midnight. Tickets last year cost $89.95 per person, plus tax and tips.
