Langley City Canada Day at Douglas Park

A free Canada Day Party usually takes place in Douglas Park on July 1st. The event in Langley City features live music, a beer garden and other activities.

To the best of our knowledge, this event did not take place in 2024. Hopefully it returns in 2025.

Note: The Township of Langley and the City of Langley are two separate municipalities. There are events in both municipalities on July 1st most years. To learn about the events in the Township of Langley, in Aldergrove and Fort Langley, see our article about Canada Day in Langley. Canada Day Celebrations in Downtown Langley

Quarry Rock Developments usually presents a free Canada Day event in downtown Langley. A few years ago, the celebrations were called Party in the Parque, and it was a great success!

A similar event happened in 2023, but with a new name. Langley’s “Canada Day Party” took place on July 1st that year. It was a family-friendly event at an outdoor venue. The celebration included a beer garden, live music, market vendors and all sorts of other fun activities.

Admission to the 2023 event was free. You didn’t have to register in advance. Doing so, however, gave the organizers an idea of how many people to expect (which was important for the food available by donation).

It doesn’t look like the event took place in 2024. As of early June in 2025, it might not happen this year either. Exact details are to be confirmed.

When and Where?

In 2023 the celebrations ran from noon until 4:00 pm on Saturday, July 1st.

The event normally takes place at Spirit Square at 20550 Douglas Crescent in the City of Langley. The outdoor venue is just one part of Douglas Park which also features a spray park, lacrosse box, tennis courts and more.

What to Expect

Langley’s Canada Day Party is full of activities. When it happens again, expect to see lots of families and people of all ages taking in the celebrations and having fun.

The 2023 event featured a main stage with live music performed by Sons of Stanley. The energetic band played a mix of genres, including fusions of rock, electronic dance music, country and hip-hop music. Langley City Mayor Nathan Pachal also made a brief appearance on stage during the event.

The Canada Day Party offered lots of games and activities for kids as well. There was a bouncy castle and inflatable basketball court, along with face painting and other activities.

For adults there was a beer garden with tables and umbrellas at the last event. Other food options for everyone included popcorn and a barbecue lunch with proceeds supporting Kimz Angels and their work with homeless individuals in the community. A 50/50 draw took place on the day of the event too, with half of the proceeds going to the charity and the other half going to the winner.

Pretty much everything at the event was free (including the face painting and bouncy castles), except for the food, drinks and products for purchase. Although not “free,” even the food at the barbecue was by donation in 2023!

Tips & Advice

Below are suggestions to help you make the most of your experience at the event.

TIP #1: If you’re planning on buying alcoholic beverages while you’re there, don’t wait until too late! The beer garden closed at 3:30 pm in 2023, so about 30 minutes before the rest of the event concluded.

TIP #2: Go on an empty stomach! There was so much food on offer at Langley’s Canada Day Party last time, including a barbeque for a great cause.

TIP #3: Seating at the 2023 event was limited. Organizers recommended bringing lawn chairs just in case it got very busy. Of course, the other option was to bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic in the park.
