The Blarney Stone Irish Pub is an Irish-themed public house and restaurant located in Gastown in downtown Vancouver.
For information about events during the week of St. Patrick’s Day, scroll about halfway down this article. There you’ll find details about the pub’s 2020 Irish Appreciation Party, St. Patrick’s Week Family Festival and St. Patrick’s Day Festival.
PUB CLOSES AND THEN REOPENS
Due to orders from the City of Vancouver and recommendations by provincial health authorities, the Blarney Stone cancelled its St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The venue also announced back in March that the pub would remain closed until further notice.
In the end, the Blarney Stone stayed closed for a number of weeks. It finally reopened for sit-down service, however, on the last weekend in May.
For details about the status of the pub see the Blarney Stone website.

The Blarney Stone
Established in 1972, the Blarney Stoney is the oldest Irish pub in Vancouver. Lots of events are hosted here including Irish appreciation parties, trivia nights, happy hours and St. Patrick’s Day events.
There are live music concerts at the pub most Fridays and Saturdays. On Fridays The Sheets usually play a mixture of music from all genres. On Saturdays The Shenanigans often perform a mix of electrifying and dance-worthy music.
With a selection of traditional Irish dishes as well as classic pub foods, there is something for everyone to eat. There are also many drink options including over a dozen different types of Irish Whiskey, mixed drinks, wines and non-alcoholic beverages.
Weekly Events at the Blarney Stone
Various weekly events occur at the Blarney Stone. See below for information. (Note: Prices, times and other details are subject to change.)
Bomber Trivia Wednesdays
Taking place most Wednesdays starting at 8 pm, Bomber Trivia nights give you the opportunity to show off how smart you are. Every week someone is crowned the winner and awarded a fantastic prize. The best part? You can get a Bomber beer and plate of wings for only $12.25 during the trivia time (or at least that was the case last time we checked).
Happy Hour Fridays
Happy Hour takes place at the Blarney Stone every Friday from 4 until 7 pm. The happy hour menu features $5 Guinness, $4 Jameson, $6 Glenlivet and 50% off appetizers. Often there is also live fiddle music.
Boozy Brunch Sundays
Most Sunday mornings a boozy brunch takes place featuring $5 Jameson, $5 Irish Caesars and $4 Mimosas.
Festive Events at the Blarney Stone
The following events do not occur very often so take advantage of them and go if you can! They are usually worth checking out.
Irish Appreciation Party in 2020
This gathering for fans of Ireland and whiskey starts at 6 pm on March 12th in 2020. There are whiskey and Guinness samples available and free appetizers from 6 to 7 pm. There is also live music and no cover charge. RSVP on their website for free to save your spot.
St. Patrick’s Week Family Festival
The St. Patrick’s Week Family Festival is a family-friendly event in 2020 that runs from 11 am until 3 pm on Sunday, March 15th. It features an Irish brunch, Guinness beer, stilts-walking entertainers, face painting and various other kid-friendly activities. Admission to the “festival” is free, but you pay for your food and drinks.
St. Patrick’s Day Festival
On March 17th the Blarney Stone hosts an all-day St. Patrick’s Day festival! Starting at 10 am with an Irish brunch, the place is open until 2 am.
Throughout the day there is entertainment in the pub as well as outside in the street. Entertainment includes live music performances, DJ music, people walking on stilts and Celtic dancers. Those under 19 years of age are allowed in until 5 pm with a parent or legal guardian.
Tickets are available online. For the brunch buffet in 2020 the cost is $25 and you must enter before 11 am with no re-entry past 3 pm. Tickets for entering the festival before 2 pm cost $35. If you want to enter the festival after 2 pm there should be tickets available at the door (until they sell out of course).
If you like live music and find yourself in Gastown at night, then also check out Guilt & Company which is located at #1 Alexander (so just down the street). It’s one of our favourite places!
