Cypress Mountain Brewski Fest Cancelled Due to Virus in 2020

Brewski Fest Beer at Cypress

In late March for the last few years Vancouver’s Cypress Mountain has hosted Brewski Fest where ski ticket holders have been able to sample free beer.

Yes, that’s right, FREE beer!

BREWSKI FEST 2020 CANCELLED DUE TO COVID-19

On March 15, 2020, Cypress Mountain announced that it would be shutting down until further notice due to concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus. As a result, no skiing or other snow sport activities are taking place on the mountain. All events scheduled for the spring of 2020 have also been cancelled, and this includes Brewski Fest.

For details about the closure see the Cypress Mountain website.

Brewski Fest 2020

Brewski Fest was going to be celebrated in 2020 on Saturday, March 21, from 1:00 until 4:00 pm on the Crazy Raven Patio at Cypress Mountain. This would have been the event’s 5th year! Last year the event ran at the same venue on Saturday, March 23rd, also from 1:00 until 4:00 pm.

The one day event is free and adults with valid lift tickets and season passes receive a stamp card making them eligible for a number of free 4 oz. beer tasters.

Additional beer tasters can be purchased. Last year tasters cost 6 for $12, but they also gave away 24 ounces of beer per person, which is a fair bit, especially if you plan to go skiing afterwards.

As can be expected, the event is always a fabulous success and very popular.

What Happens at Brewski Fest

At the ages 19+ event half a dozen or so craft breweries set up booths and offer 4 oz. samples of their beers. Guests are given a stamp card and can then pick and choose different beverages between the various vendors.

Participating breweries in past years have included Stanley Park Brewery, Central City Brewers (from Surrey), Goose Island (from the United States), Hearthstone (from North Vancouver), Bridge Brewery (from North Vancouver), Granville Island Brewing and Foamers’ Folly (from Pitt Meadows). The selection in 2019 will be comparable.

Beverages available for sampling include pale ales, lagers, pilsners, IPAs, winter ales and a variety of other specialty craft brews. For people who don’t like beer, there is also usually some kind of cider.

Cypress Events

Cypress Mountain puts on a number of events over the course of the ski season. Examples include Family Day Fireworks over the Family Day Weekend in February as well as Family Nights with discounted pizza most Fridays.

Brewski Fest, however, you have to admit, is pretty special. There aren’t many places these days where you can get free beer. Yes, you have to have paid for your day’s lift ticket or season pass to be eligible. But Cypress Mountain is a great place to ski even without the free beer, so Brewski Fest just makes it that much more perfect!

There’s just nothing like spring skiing after a few free beer samples! Just remember to drink responsibly and don’t drink and drive (or ski after too much).
