Vancouver’s BCIT EVolution ’22 Electric Vehicle Event

BCIT Evolution Electric Vehicle Festival of Learning

BCIT was going to hold an EV-related event called EVolution ’22 in 2022. It was cancelled, however, and likely won’t happen again in the future.

The event was going to be an opportunity to learn about EV transportation, electric vehicles and people in the EV industry.

A new and similar event is scheduled to happen in 2023. Fully Charged Live is a home energy and electric vehicle show that comes to Vancouver on the second weekend of September in 2023. Another electric vehicle event that has happened in the past, pre-pandemic, was Electrafest (which hopefully will happen again too).

BCIT’s EVolution ’22 Festival of Learning

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is a great place to learn about lots of things. In 2022, on Sunday, September 25th, it was going to be an especially amazing place to learn everything there is to know about electric vehicles. That’s when EVolution ’22 was going to take place, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. It was going to be a free event and was expected to attract as many as 15,000 people!

At the end of August in 2022, EVolution ’22 was cancelled because of ongoing construction projects on the BCIT campus. The event never happened, and it likely won’t in the future either.

EVolution ’22 was going to be a new event coming to the British Columbia Institute of Technology in September. It was going to be a free showcase for all of the latest in electric vehicle technology.

The event was meant to be both educational and entertaining with dozens of displays and attractions to explore. Had the event happened, guests would have been able to test drive a new electric vehicle, learn about the history of electric vehicles and meet some of the entrepreneurs who are working in the industry.

This event was going to be similar to Electrafest which was an electric vehicle tradeshow in Vancouver in years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCIT event, however, was going to be much larger and comprehensive. It was also going to offer even more things to see and do.

Where and When

Before it was cancelled, EVolution ’22 was going to take place on Sunday, September 25th, at BCIT’s Burnaby campus at 3700 Willingdon Avenue. The event was going to run from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and, as mentioned above, it was going to be entirely free to attend.

Those who already owned electric vehicles could have had free priority parking if they registered to take part in Flash Forward, which was an attempt by the event organizers to break the world record for the most electric vehicles ever gathered in one place. The current record was 733, set in Quebec in 2021.

What to Expect at EVolution ’22

There was going to be plenty to see and do at EVolution ’22. There was going to be an opportunity to take some vehicles for a spin yourself! There was going to be an electric scooter obstacle course to maneuver through as well as an e-bike circuit. There was also going to be various vehicles on hand with professionals there to walk attendees through their operation.

A big part of this event was going to be learning about the vehicles themselves. There was going to be a variety of electric vehicles on display and information about their history. Over 30 different brands were going to take part in this event in 2022, each with its own EV Ambassador to answer any questions about the technology.

Did you know that VancouversBestPlaces.com is an environmentally-responsible website? We use green energy to power our office needs, we use a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle to get around town, and we are officially carbon neutral! How many other events, attractions and travel-related media can say all that? More of them should we think!
