Dance Dance Dance in Vancouver
Vancouver Civic Theatres include the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver Playhouse and the ANNEX. These include some of the largest, most beautiful and most famous theatres in the Lower Mainland, and they are all operated by the City of Vancouver. Another venue operated by the same organization is šxʷƛ̓exən Xwtl’a7shn which used to be called the QET Plaza.
In addition to hosting performances and events throughout the year, Vancouver Civic Theatres also offers a variety of summer programs. There are free outdoor movies with Sunset Cinema (on Wednesday evenings in August 2023) and Tours of the Orpheum Theatre (on Thursdays and Saturdays in the summer). There are also free dance classes on Friday evenings between late July and the end of August in the plaza outside the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.
Dance Dance Dance was the series of dance lessons available in 2023. The classes were great opportunities to learn from knowledgeable dance instructors. Each lesson was one hour long and covered a different style of Latin dance. The classes were outdoors, open to the public and completely free to attend. Everyone was welcome to participate, including folks who didn’t have any dancing experience.
Online registration was encouraged this past year, but not required. If you and your partner, friends or family wanted to learn Latin styles of dance, or you were just looking for a fun night out, this was a series for you!
