The Big Easter Run and Chimes Group Egg Hunt
A fun and healthy way to celebrate Easter each year is by participating in the Big Easter Run. It’s an event where people dress up in festive costumes and run along Vancouver’s scenic waterfront. The route options are usually easy and fun for all ages, and there are different distances to choose from. At the event there is also the Chimes Group Egg Hunt for kids who enter the 1K and 3K runs.
The Big Easter Run is one of several runs in The Big Fun Run Series. There are runs at different times throughout the year, and each run has a theme. The Big Elf Run, for example, takes place in December and has a Christmas theme. Other runs in the series include the Big Jungle Run in March, Big Superhero Run in August, and Big Pirate Run in September.
With the Big Easter Run all participants get a complimentary pair of bunny ears. With the Big Elf Run, on the other hand, everyone gets an elf toque! Every run is different.
The Big Fun Run Series is designed to be inclusive for all types of participants, including those in wheelchairs and those who want to run with their dogs. The runs are not meant to be competitive, so they’re not really races. Instead, each run is all about having fun and cheering everyone on as they cross the finish line!
The same as other events in The Big Fun Run Series, the Big Easter Run has a charitable beneficiary. In 2023 it’s KidSport which is a non-profit organization that helps kids that need financial assistance participate in sports.
When and Where
2023 marks the 8th year of the Big Easter Run. It takes place on Saturday, April 8th. The event begins and ends at Jericho Beach Park, located at 3941 Point Grey Road in the City of Vancouver.
Of course, while in the area, it’s a good opportunity to explore Jericho Beach and take in the beautiful views of the North Shore Mountains and Vancouver skyline. The beach is one of the best that the city has to offer. It has a huge stretch of sand that gets busy in the summer. It’ll be too cold for a swim in April (at least for most people). It’s a beautiful spot though any time of the year.
To register for the event see the official Big Easter Run website.
Fun Run Rates
Prices to join the run in 2023 depend on your age and the number of people you register with.

Tips and Advice
Below are some suggestions to help you get the most out of your Big Fun Easter Run experience.
TIP #1: Remember to bring your reusable water bottle with you to the event. There is a water station on-site where you can fill your bottle up throughout the day.
TIP #2: Although this run is for all ages, there is a time limit. Everyone needs to complete their run in just over 2 hours. That should be more than enough time for most people. If you’d like to see the running routes in advance, check the Big Fun Run Series website closer to the date of the event.
TIP #3: If you don’t want to receive your run kit in the mail and you can’t make the pickup date either, you can get your kit at Jericho Beach Park 1 hour before the runs start. If you get it in advance, however, that’s best.
TIP #4: You don’t have to wear a costume, or run fast, but there are prizes if you do. Examples of prize categories include Fastest Male & Female Bunnies in the 5K and 10K runs as well as prizes for best costume, best photo, best custom bib name, and best pet costume.
