Vancouver Mysteries offers Secret Agent, Detective, Superhero and Ghost-Hunting games. In October it offers special Halloween Mystery Nights adventures.
The same company also offers a few different Virtual Games that you can play online with friends and family pretty much anywhere in the world.
During the Halloween season, between October 13th and 31st, game players are encouraged to dress up (so don’t be surprised to see superheroes and people in ghostbusting costumes running around downtown). There are also prizes to be won!

ADVENTURE GAMES AT HALLOWEEN
Vancouver Mysteries games run pretty much all year. During the Halloween season, however, the company offers special sessions which are hugely popular. What’s the difference between the games at Halloween and at other times of the year? You can win prizes! With monster and ghost themes, plus darker evenings, the games are extra fun, especially if you dress up in costume.
In October 2023 Vancouver Mystery Nights ran every evening between Friday the 13th and Halloween night. With Vancouver Mystery Nights, the game is Ghost Patrol which is suitable for adults and children ages 12 and older. In the Ghost Patrol game, you and your friends are a team of paranormal investigators who have to track down ghosts and examine haunted locations around downtown Vancouver.
In addition to Vancouver Mystery Nights for older youth and adults, there is also Halloween Family Fun which is a superhero-themed adventure where participants get to save the planet from a supervillain monster. Heroes & Villains Family Version is suitable for parents and children ages 6 and older. There is also the regular version of Heroes & Villains, plus Crime in Downtown and Secret Mission which are all suitable for adults as well as youth ages 12 and older.
Halloween Adventure Games with Vancouver Mysteries
Vancouver Mysteries is a local company that puts together various virtual and in-person adventure games. The activities involve team work, finding clues and solving creative mysteries. The company’s newest offering is Ghost Patrol. Just in time for Halloween season, the spooky outdoor game is a wonderful way to spend an evening in downtown Vancouver.
Also especially perfect for Halloween is the game Heroes & Villains. It comes in two versions. One is for kids ages 6 and older to play with their adult friends and family members. The other is for adults and youth ages 12 and up. With these games, you have superhero powers!
Of the three games, Ghost Patrol is the most difficult. The adult version of Heroes & Villains is definitely easier, and the family version of Heroes & Villains is by far the easiest. Choose the game that best suits your taste and level of escape room and puzzle-solving expertise!
See below for details about both Ghost Patrol and Heroes & Villains.

Ghost Patrol Description
Ghost Patrol is a fun outdoor game available in October. You can play it at other times of the year too, but it’s especially fun and popular around Halloween.
With this game, players become paranormal investigators and explore four different hauntings around downtown Vancouver. They also learn about what Vancouver was like during the 1900s. Working in small teams, participants receive coded messages from ghosts that they need to crack.
There are multiple clues to find and challenges to complete along the way. Teams are given scores based on their performances and various prizes are up for grabs. Halloween-themed costumes are also encouraged.
Ghost Patrol Halloween Dates & Prices
Vancouver Mysteries offered a special Halloween edition of Ghost Patrol from October 13th to 31st last year. The game starts at 7:00 pm each day (so you get to play in the dark). In total, the full experience takes around two hours, plus or minus. The same game is available at other times of the year too, but without prizes in the non-Halloween season. Also, fewer people dress up for the game when it’s not Halloween.
Tickets are available online and cost about $35 each. The game is played in teams of two to six players, meaning tickets are available in bundles of two to six. Tickets are not sold individually.
The game is recommended for folks ages 12 and older. It takes place outdoors and happens rain or shine. Ghost Patrol is a very challenging outdoor escape-room style game. If you want to try something easier first, then check out Vancouver Mysteries’ Heroes & Villains game.

Heroes & Villains Game Description
Heroes & Villains is a game that’s usually for between two and six players. During the Halloween season, however, the family-friendly version of the game is played with between just two and five players. Also during the Halloween season, your team competes against other teams. You can win prizes, and every team gets a special Halloween certificate. Everyone who plays the Heroes & Villains Family Game also gets a sticker.
The Heroes & Villains games are played around the Coal Harbour area of downtown Vancouver. The mission takes participants along the waterfront around the Vancouver Convention Centre and other areas nearby. Along the way, teams decipher clues and use their superhero powers to track down the evil Muck Monster villain.
Heroes & Villains Halloween Dates & Prices
The family-friendly Heroes & Villains game was available with special Halloween twists between October 13th and 31st in 2023. The games start at 10:30 am, 11:30 am and 4:30 pm each day.
Compared to Ghost Patrol, Heroes & Villains is a much easier game. All ages are welcome to participate. General admission costs about $35 per person. Two children ages 5 and under can play for free in each group. The games take up to two hours to complete.
