Lansdowne Centre Shopping Mall

Lansdowne Centre is a pretty typical large-scale 1970s mall. It has big box anchor stores at each corner and 100-plus stores in between.

Built in the late 1970s, the mall has over 130 stores, including a Winners, Toys R Us, HomeSense, Best Buy, and a T&T (Asian-style) Supermarket.

What makes the mall a destination is its hosting of several special events each year. That includes summer movie nights, which run on Thursdays in the summer and/or early fall.

Mall Location and Hours

Located at 5300 No.3 Road, close to the Lansdowne SkyTrain Station, Lansdowne Centre is bordered by Alderbridge Road to the north and Lansdowne Road to the south.

The mall’s regular hours are from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sundays to Thursdays, and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Events at the Mall

Most years, in either January or February, the Lansdowne Centre offers Lunar New Year entertainment on a weekend. During the school Spring Break, the mall’s large parking lot is sometimes taken over by a chalk art festival featuring a carousel and train that children can ride. In the summer, the mall’s Centre Court becomes an indoor park. A couple of circuses also set up for shows in the parking lot at different times of the year.

See below for details on each seasonal special event.

Indoor Movie Nights

Numerous free movie screenings take place in the Lower Mainland each summer. Most take place in parks and shopping malls, convention centres, and municipal plazas.

Lansdowne Centre previously hosted outdoor drive-in movie nights on Wednesdays in the summer. However, in 2025, the mall hosted indoor movie nights on Thursdays instead. The screenings took place at Lansdowne’s indoor summer park at Centre Court. The area was complete with artificial turf and air conditioning.

Indoor Summer Nights at Lansdowne Centre took place at 7:00 pm on Thursday evenings last year. Admission was free, and no tickets were required. Seating was available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Circuses at Lansdowne Mall

Two circuses set up their tents for shows outside the Lansdowne Centre most years. The Royal Canadian Circus usually visits in the spring, while Circo Osorio is usually in town during the fall. Both circuses put on great shows that are fun for the whole family.

In 2025, Royal Canadian Circus shows were held in the Lansdowne Centre parking lot from May 15th to 19th. Circo Osorio set up at the same location from October 9th to 13th last year. Details for the 2026 circuses are yet to be announced.
