The Parade of Lights is a Christmas-themed event with lit-up floats and trucks in Port Coquitlam. It’s a great family-friendly holiday event.
Parade of Lights in Port Coquitlam
In 2026 the parade starts at 5:00 pm. It features illuminated vehicles, local businesses, community groups and walking entries. The parade finishes with Santa Claus. This year there are also free family activities before and after the parade. Activities include ice skating at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (PCCC), hot chocolate, and holiday crafts.
At the parade, you can expect to see brightly decorated municipal vehicles, snowplows, trucks, local businesses, and community groups. There may also be unique entries like a Zamboni, as there was last year.

Parade of Lights Parade Route
The parade route usually begins at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. From there it travels west along Kelly Avenue, north on Shaughnessy Street, east on McAllister Avenue, then south on Mary Hill Road before returning to Kelly Avenue. This will likely be the case again in 2026, but with exact details to be confirmed.
Before the parade, families can usually enjoy activities from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. These include photos with Santa, complimentary hot cocoa, a walk-in snow globe, an inflatable sleigh photo station, winter-themed games and the NorthStar Express mini holiday train travelling between Leigh Square and Veterans Park.
At the PCCC, last year there was Family Play & Skate from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and free public skating from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm (advance registration is required). Inside the centre, people could also enjoy treats and crafts from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The cost to participate in the parade is $75 for commercial vehicles, $25 for incorporated non-profit groups and free for unincorporated entries. For spectators, the event is free!
