There is usually so much to do in Vancouver for kids during the school Spring Break holidays in March including camps and special deals at attractions.

Attractions with special activities that are open during Spring Break most years include the Fraser River Discovery Centre and Burnaby Village Museum. There are outdoor adventure games with Vancouver Mysteries which are great for families. The ropes courses at WildPlay in Maple Ridge are open during the holidays too. There are also Spring Break Camps at various places.

Vancouver Events during the Spring Break School Holidays

Spring Break for most public schools in the Lower Mainland takes place from March 16th to 27th in 2026.

Below are events and activities that are happening during Spring Break in 2026, or happened last year (and we assume will be back again).

Spring Break in Vancouver

Below is a list of events during the Spring Break holidays in the City of Vancouver in 2026. Further below are activities in other parts of the Lower Mainland.

 

Events in 2026

  • FlyOver Canada – the attraction usually has a special feature show around Spring Break. Last year the film was Windborne: Call of the Canadian Rockies and it showed from March 13th and runs until June 23rd. The movie for this coming March is to be confirmed as of mid-December.
  • Vancouver Mysteries – multiple outdoor adventure games happen in downtown Vancouver. Groups of two to six players can become spies, investigators and other fun characters. On Tuesdays to Fridays during Spring Break last year, outdoor games during the day were $10 off per person. See the vancouvermysteries.com website for more details about the company’s Spring Break offering. 2026 details will hopefully be similar.

Other Activities in the City of Vancouver

  • Spring Break Movies – child-friendly films show for as low as $3.99 on various mornings during Spring Break at several theatres in the Lower Mainland.
  • VanDusen Garden – Vancouver’s famous botanical gardens offer Spring Break day camps for children on weekdays during the school holidays. They run from March 16th to 20th and 23rd to 27th in 2026.
  • BC Sports Hall of Fame – the museum offered special day camps on March 17th and 24th in 2025. They were for children ages 7 to 10 and advanced registration was required. There were also Family Pass discounts available on both weekends during Spring Break. They cost just $40 for a family of four. Hopefully they return in 2026 but details are to be confirmed as of mid-December.

 

Spring Break in Burnaby

  • Spring Break at Burnaby Village – special activities take place at the outdoor museum during Spring Break. Hours during the school holidays are typically from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Admission is free but carousel rides cost extra. Exact dates for 2026 are TBC as of mid-December.
  • Burnaby Rec Centres – the City of Burnaby has Spring Break camps that take place at its recreational facilities most years (as well as at the Burnaby Art Gallery).
  • Shamrock ‘n Race – St. Patrick’s Day-themed running races happened at Burnaby Lake Park on Sunday, March 15th in 2026 (so at the very start of the Spring Break school holidays).

Spring Break in Coquitlam

  • Place des Arts – all sorts of visual and performing arts programs for grades K to 9 take place at the facility over Spring Break most years. In 2026 there are multiple camps running from March 16th to 20th and from March 23rd to 27th. See the Place des Arts website to learn more.

 

Spring Break in Fort Langley

  • Fort Langley Historic Site – there were a number of special activities available from March 15th to 30th last year. Kids could enjoy daily scavenger hunts, educational talks and demonstrations on site. Details for 2026 are TBC as of mid-December.

Spring Break in the Sea- to-Sky Region

  • Britannia Mine Museum – the historic mine and museum’s popular “Mini Mud Monsters” program returned in 2025, offering exciting, interpreter-led activities inside the Terra Lab STEAM learning space, where kids could dig into the world of environmental science. The museum also launched a brand-new program, “Whatever Happened to Mt. Sheer?”, which is an engaging look at the historic mining townsite hidden deep in the mountains above Britannia Beach. Last year the Spring Break activities ran from March 15th to 30th. See the britanniaminemuseum.ca website for full details. Hopefully things will be similar in 2026.
  • Sea to Sky Model Train & Hobby Show – the Railway Museum of BC in Squamish has a special model train event on March 21st and 22nd in 2026.

 

Spring Break in Richmond

  • Richmond Oval – the Olympic recreational facilities in Richmond usually offer a number of different sports camps over Spring Break.
  • Gulf of Georgia Cannery – extra activities are available at the historic site during Spring Break. The last couple years there was a Salmon Run activity booklet. Visitors who completed all challenges won a prize. There were also film showings in the venue’s theatre. 2026 details are TBC as of mid-December.
  • Spring Break Movies – a number of child-friendly films normally show for just $3.99 on various mornings during Spring Break at Richmond’s SilverCity Riverport Cinemas.
  • Carnival at Lansdowne Centre – there were amusement rides in the parking lot at the mall in Richmond from March 28th to April 13th last year. Their status for 2026 is TBC.

 

Spring Break in Surrey

  • Spring Break Camps – rec centres throughout Surrey offer special Spring Break day camps for kids.
    • Note: The City of Surrey also offers a Family Fun Pass where the whole family can enjoy access to recreational facilities for an extra low price. The passes last year were valid for the second half of March and cost between around $7 and $25 per person depending on one’s age. 2026 prices are TBC as of mid-December.
  • Spring Break Movies – a number of child-friendly films show for just $3.99 on various mornings during Spring Break at Surrey’s Strawberry Hill Cinemas.

Spring Break in White Rock

  • White Rock Spring Break Camps – the City of White Rock hosts various camps for kids over Spring Break. There are usually sports camps, creative camps and more.

 

Spring Break on the North Shore

  • Skating at the Shipyards – free ice skating takes place at Shipyard Commons in winter. The skating typically runs until around the end of March.
  • West Van Spring Break Camps – the West Vancouver Recreation Centre typically offers Spring Break camps that include dance, drawing, sports and other topics.
  • North Van Arts Camps – the North Vancouver Community Arts Council offers Camp Creative in 2026, a week-long series of day camps with outdoor walks, theatre, music and art.
  • Persian New Year Fire Festival – live music and fire jumping opportunities takes place at West Vancouver’s Ambleside Park most years in mid-March. The date for 2026 is TBC as of mid-December.

 

Spring Break in Maple Ridge

  • City of Maple Ridge Programs – as part of the city’s recreational activity guide, various camps involving sports and the outdoors are normally available in the spring.
  • ACT Arts Centre – a variety of half and full-day Spring Break camps are offered most years.
  • Wild & Immersive Programs – different camps are offered for kids between 5 and 12 years old. The camps involve exploring and learning about nature through fun activities in Maple Ridge.
  • WildPlay Element Park – an outdoor family-friendly adventure park with ropes courses and ziplines. The attraction has Spring Break Camps for youth ages 10 to 14 in the weeks of March 16th to 20th as well as 23rd to 27th in 2026. They also typically have extended hours during the holidays, plus various promotional offers.   • Timberline Ranch – a Christian camp has a programs for children during the school holidays. They run from March 16th to 19th as well as the 23rd to 26th in 2026.

Spring Break in New Westminster

  • Fraser River Discovery Centre – the child-friendly museum is open daily with special activities during Spring Break. Last year there were two week-long camps for children ages 6 to 11 as well. 2026 details are TBC as of mid-December.
  • New West Community Centres – the City of New Westminster offers Spring Break activities at various locations. Things to do most years include drop-in aquatics, Spring Break day camps and more.

 

Spring Break in Chilliwack

  • Sweet Spring Flower Festival – an annual event at Greendale Acres Farm in Chilliwack that began on March 27th last year. From then until May 11th the farm featured more than 50,000 tulips and other pretty flowers to explore. 2026 dates are TBC.

 

Special Spring Break Programs for Kids

A number of Vancouver attractions offer special programs and deals for children. Below are some examples of things that usually happen around Spring Break.

  • Sasamat Outdoor Centre – day camps run at the facility at Sasamat Lake near Port Moody for children ages 6 to 12. They cost $378 per one-week session in 2026.
  • Junior Zoologist Camp – there were two special Spring Break camps at the Greater Vancouver Zoo for kids last year. Registration cost up to about $400 per week. Details for 2026 are TBC as of mid-December
  • Cliffhanger Vancouver (Now Hive Bouldering) – climbing wall Spring Break camps ran at the facility at 520 Industrial Avenue last year. They cost about $475 plus GST per week. The camps were for youth ages 6 to 8 and 9 to 12. Hopefully they run again in 2026.

 

Rec Centre Activities

  • Area Rec Centres – community centres throughout the Lower Mainland offer special camps and other activities for children over Spring Break most years. Check out a location near you.
    • Burnaby – area rec centres have activities throughout the two weeks.
    • Maple Ridge – a variety of outdoor activities and camps run most years. Topics include art, nature, leadership and more.
    • New Westminster – activities in a typical year include crafts, science, pottery, sports, cartooning, magic, cooking, babysitting and other topics.
    • Port Moody – the city offers Spring Break camps for youth that feature outdoor games, creative exercises and more.
    • Richmond Oval – camp topics usually include badminton, floorball, climbing, and more.
    • Surrey – recreation facilities offer performing arts, sports, and themed camps.
    • West Vancouver – camps offered in past years have included golf, gymnastics, skating, acting and more.
