Dead Fellows Haunted Brewhouse

Dead Fellows Haunted Brewhouse takes over the brewery in the days leading up to Halloween. The back-of-house at Strange Fellows Brewhouse is transformed into a haunted brewhouse. There are scary sets, with live actors lurking to scare guests, flashing lights and loud noises. All of it is designed to scare.

The storyline draws on real-life, local death and disappearance stories. The industrial area around Clark Drive in East Vancouver has a history of tragic accidents and unexplained deaths, including the collapse of the old East Bridge over a century ago.

Over the years, reports have surfaced of a woman in a white early-1900s-style dress and the spirit of a young child being seen on site. These stories and others like it shape the theme of the haunted brewhouse, inspiring characters in the haunt.

Inside the haunted brewhouse, guests walk through a series of eerie areas and corridors where restless spirits are waiting in the shadows.

What to Expect

The Haunted Brewhouse is a self-guided, indoor walk-through experience. The route is fixed, so you cannot wander off or escape, even if you want to. Rooms are dark with narrow corridors, scary sound effects and sudden lighting changes. Actors appear from all angles and from hidden corners giving guests plenty of jump scares.

The experience is designed mainly for adults and brave teenagers. It is loud, intense and very atmospheric, so it may be too much for kids or anyone who dislikes horror. Most groups spend around 20 minutes inside, plus about 10 minutes in the pre-show line-up where the backstory is displayed. Entry is staggered so you feel like you are alone inside with the ghosts.

Dead Fellows is one of the scariest indoor haunted houses in the region and a favourite among adults seeking a high-quality Halloween experience close to downtown Vancouver.

Outside, a tented pop-up bar features witchy decor, heaters, and themed drinks. Many guests arrive in costume, and the brewery’s staff also dress up, especially on Halloween night. After the walk-through, people usually stay for a drink, keeping the Halloween atmosphere going even after escaping the ghouls.

About Strange Fellows Brewing

Strange Fellows Brewing specializes in sour and barrel-aged beers. They take pride in crafting “strange” beverages, but in a good way, experimenting with seasonal releases throughout the year. There is a tasting room open daily with several beers, ciders, small-batch BC wines and non-alcoholic options on tap.

The venue offers casual food such as pizzas, Jamaican patties, pretzels and a few other pub-style items. The atmosphere is warm, social and inclusive. People can sit indoors or outside on the covered patio. During Halloween, the tasting room leans into a spooky theme with lots of decorations matching the Haunted Brewhouse in the back.

Tips & Advice

The following tips and suggestions are worth knowing before visiting the haunted attraction at Strange Fellows Brewing.

TIP #1: Organizers encourage everyone to purchase their tickets online in advance. Visitors without tickets are directed to the online ticket portal via a QR code outside the Brewhouse. It makes sense to complete this process at home, securing a spot in advance.

TIP #2: Dead Fellows Haunted Brewhouse is a no-contact experience. Performers do not physically touch guests, but they do come close to them. Expect very dark scenes, flashing lights, loud noises and screams. This is a scary experience (even for adults) with more than 15 jump scares, and is not very suitable for young kids.

TIP #3: Costumes are encouraged. Many people dress up on Halloween night when visiting the experience, as do the staff and, of course, the actors.

TIP #4: Photos and videos with flash are not allowed inside the haunted brewhouse. It is best to leave phones in your handbag or pocket.

TIP #5: VIP tickets allow arrival at any time during event hours on the selected date, providing flexibility for guests who are unsure of their preferred time.
