Reapers Halloween Haunted Attraction & Maze of Terror

Reapers Maze of Terror

Reapers Haunted Attraction and Maze of Terror at Chilliwack’s Fantasy Farms is one of the Lower Mainland’s most popular Halloween events in October.

The Halloween attraction runs on most days between early and end of October.

Note: Reapers is a serious haunted attraction! It’s really good, but not for the fainthearted. If you like haunted houses, you’ll love this place! For little kids and more timid folks, however, you’ll want to check out child-friendly Peteys Pumpkin Patch instead (which takes place at the same farm during the day).

For tickets and the haunted attraction’s official website, visit reapers.ca. To learn about the venue and its other events, see the Fantasy Farms website.

About the Halloween Attractions

Fantasy Farms‘ Halloween offering used to have two elements. The Maze of Terror and the Reapers Haunted Attraction (i.e. the haunted house). Both were great Halloween attractions that were worth trekking out to see! Since 2019 only the Maze of Terror has been operating, but it’s now even better than ever.

In 2023 the maze was bigger than the year before and it has had a complete revamp of scares. The entrance is also in a new location which makes it even more ominous than in previous years.

Reapers Maze of Terror is a fabulously frightening event. Because it’s outside and you can go through it with your own group, it’s a great Halloween event.

The Maze of Terror

The Maze of Terror at Fantasy Farms is a labyrinth in the dark. In past years it wasn’t a corn maze, like at some other places. Rather, it was an open-roofed structure with high walls, maze-like corridors and zero lighting. In 2018 and 2019, however, the Maze of Terror was a corn maze. In 2020, it was a wooden structure once again, but in 2021 it returned to a field of corn. The 2022 maze was in a corn field again and it has been the same ever since.

One of the main fear factors with the maze is the darkness. If you’re afraid of the dark then this truly is a “maze of terror.” There are a few scary decorations, and also lots of live actors in costume, which makes the experience scary.

We did Reapers Maze of Terror in October of 2021 and loved it! See further below for a video of what we saw. We went back again in both 2022 and 2023, and it gets even better every year. In the maze there are creatures hiding around every corner and they jump out at you from behind the stalks of corn. Expect to do some serious screaming!

Maze of Terror Video

Want an idea of what the Reapers Maze of Terror looked like a few years ago? Then check out the video below.

We visited the attraction in early October one year. This video shows some of the scenes and characters that we saw. It was all wonderfully terrifying! As you’ll see, it was really dark in the maze. That alone was scary! What made it even better were all the monsters and creepy characters hiding behind every turn!

Reapers’ Reviews

Below is what people commenting on the Reapers’ Facebook page have had to say about the haunted house at Fantasy Farms in the past:

  • “I absolutely love Reapers! I try to go every year as it’s one of the best (if not the best) Halloween event.”
  • “This is in the top 3 best haunted houses I’ve ever been through from Disneyworld to Vegas!! I wish I was able to go through another 2-3 times in a row. Not kidding!”
  • “First time at Reapers tonight, must say it was amazing! Scared the crap out of me. Awesome time all around.”
  • “Had a blast! Best haunted house! And maze. Nothing like getting your pants scared off ya. Hahah.”
  • “The Scariest and Best Haunt in BC!”

Note: The above reviews are about Reapers, which was the indoor haunted house element of the Halloween attraction at Fantasy Farms.

Tips & Advice

Below are some tips to help you make the most of your visit to the Halloween attractions at Chilliwack’s Fantasy Farms.

TIP #1: If going on a non-rainy weekend or close to Halloween it’s a good idea to book your tickets in advance online. You can wait and pay at the door, but during the second half of October many nights end up selling out.

TIP #2: There is a fair bit of free on-site parking, although spaces are limited and you’re not allowed to park on the street. Carpool with friends if you can!

TIP #3: To avoid the biggest crowds, go on a weekday if possible, or get there by 6:30 pm on a weekend.

TIP #4: Dress warm and wear boots. It can get cold in October, especially while you’re standing in line (unless of course you’re with someone you can snuggle close to). Also, if it has rained recently (which it often does in October), the ground in the Maze of Terror can get muddy. It is a farm after all!

TIP #5: The maze is very dark, and you aren’t allowed to use a flashlight. That makes it especially frightening. Photography isn’t allowed either. There is a section in the maze where there are flashing lights. That’s good to know for people who have light sensitivities.

Peteys Pumpkin Patch

This event at Fantasy Farms ran from September 30th until October 31st in 2023. It was open between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm on most weekdays and from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on weekends, holidays and select weekdays.

Peteys Pumpkin Patch and Family Fun Zone costs $12 per person or $40 for a family of four. Seniors can get in for $10 and children under the age of 2 enter for free.

The daytime attraction usually includes train rides and adventures in a corn maze. There are also a number of farm animals to admire. Halloween pumpkins are usually on sale and cost between $2 and $25 depending on their size and variety.

More About Fantasy Farms

In a typical year, expect to stay at the Reapers’ Halloween Attraction for about an hour, but longer if it’s an especially busy day and less if it’s slow. In years when it happens, the haunted house takes around five to six minutes to go through. The maze, meanwhile, takes about 20 minutes. There are other displays and things to see as well.

Other seasonal events at Fantasy Farms include the following:

Of all the various annual events at the farm, Reapers is the largest and most famous. All the events are fun and interesting though in their own ways. See our article about Fantasy Farms for more details.
