Wonders of the American West used to be called The Real Wild West. It’s about the western United States and it’s is one of FlyOver‘s newer films.

The multi-dimensional show debuted in the fall of 2021 and returned in the spring of 2022. It came back again from February 12th until April 21st, 2024, at Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. As of mid-January, 2025, it’s not known when it will return again, but it likely will at some point!

Wonders of the American West at FlyOver at Canada Place

FlyOver has wowed theatre goers in Canada for more than a decade. This special theatre screens a variety of films at different times of the year. The attraction is especially popular because it isn’t just a regular cinema. It’s a multi-dimensional theatre that activates all the senses. Its shows have moving seats, blowing wind and other immersive features.

We went to see The Real Wild West film when it came out in 2021, and it was excellent! It’s similar to the old FlyOver America film, but with an emphasis on the US West Coast, plus states like Arizona, Colorado and Nevada.

The new experience takes guests on a wild ride over a variety of environments in the United States, including lively cities, endless prairies, lush rivers and beautiful valleys. The pre-show includes scenes and information about the history of the region, and the “Old Wild West.” The feature film, however, focuses on what the region looks like today.

Show Times

Like FlyOver’s other seasonal attractions, Wonders of the American West airs for a limited amount of time. It last played from February to April in 2024.

The attraction itself is open daily from 10:00 am until around 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm depending on the season.

Admission

Tickets purchased online are usually a little cheaper than those purchased at the attraction. As of the beginning of 2025, admission costs the following online:

Adults (ages 16+): $29 to $39
Children (ages 15 and under): $19 to $29

Note: Tickets are slightly more expensive at the gate. FlyOver allows everyone over 40 inches (or 102 cm) tall to experience its shows. However, people in wheelchairs must be able to move into the ride’s regular seats for safety reasons.
