The Holiday Inn on Vancouver’s North Shore
The Holiday Inn & Suites is the only hotel in this area of the North Shore. It comes highly rated on TripAdvisor for its amenities, spacious rooms and convenient location.
Visitors to the Holiday Inn have a choice between a regular hotel room or a suite. All rooms contain microwaves and coffee makers. Suites come equipped with extra space for living and dining as well as kitchenettes with stove burners and kitchenware. The hotel also has a couple of themed rooms. One has an Arabian theme and the other is Roman.
The hotel is family-friendly. Children up to around 18 years of age can stay free with a paying adult, and younger kids eat for free at one of the hotel’s two restaurants.
Another popular feature of the hotel is the abundance of free parking on the hotel grounds.
Where is the Holiday Inn?
The Holiday Inn North Vancouver can be found just off Highway 1 at 700 Old Lillooet Road. This is close to the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge which is one of two bridges connecting the North Shore with the City of Vancouver.
The hotel’s location is fairly convenient, although there isn’t much within walking distance of the inn. A Canadian Superstore and Capilano University are both close by, but not much else. Ski hills like Grouse Mountain and Mt. Seymour, however, are both just 20 or so minutes away by car, and downtown Vancouver and North Vancouver’s Lonsdale Quay are even closer. Although conveniently located, this is a hotel for people with cars.
(Note: As of early 2021, and for the previous couple of years, the area around the Holiday Inn has been undergoing a period of construction. As a result, access to the hotel has been restricted to just Lillooet Road.)
On-site Dining
There are two restaurants within the Holiday Inn North Vancouver. One is more family-friendly and the other is a pub-style bar. Below are details about Medley’s Grill and Seymour’s Pub.
Medley’s Grill
Medley’s Grill is the hotel’s casual and family-friendly restaurant. The place can be found within the hotel itself. The restaurant has been recently renovated and gets good reviews. It’s a bit like a White Spot or upscale Pantry.
Medley’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner from around 6:30 am until 9:00 pm daily. Children under the age of 12 can order from the “Kids Eat Free” menu when accompanied by a paying adult.
Seymour’s Pub
Seymour’s is a bar/lounge. It’s on the hotel grounds but not within the main hotel building itself. The place can be found by the Holiday Inn’s parking lot next to Seymour’s Liquor Store.
Seymour’s Pub is usually open from 11:00 am until 1:00 am on weekdays with extended hours until 2:00 am on weekends. Since the place is a pub, minors under the age of 19 can eat there only until 9:00 pm. They also have to be accompanied by a parent or guardian ages 19 or older. (Note: The pub’s hours of operation may vary and are subject to change.)
The place features pub-style decor such as a pool table and large televisions to watch sporting events. There is also a heated patio for the colder months. It’s a popular place and also gets good reviews.
Hotel Amenities
In addition to the hotel’s two restaurants, the Holiday Inn provides a variety of other amenities for guests. It has a heated indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, workout room and a 24-hour business centre. There is also a spa on-site.
Blu Harbour Wellness + Spa
The Holiday Inn North Vancouver is home to a full-service spa. Blu Harbour is usually open seven days a week from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm (although exact details may vary). Services at the spa include massages, manicures, pedicures and other wellness treatments.
