Vancouver’s Westin Bayshore Hotel

Westin Bayshore Hotel

The Westin Bayshore Hotel is a modern and high-end place to stay along the Coal Harbour waterfront. It’s close to both downtown Vancouver and Stanley Park.

The hotel is also home to the H2 Kitchen + Bar which is a great smokehouse-style restaurant that’s famous for its barbecued meats and outdoor patio. We’ve eaten there a couple of times and highly recommend it, especially for meat lovers! The restaurant’s meat platter for two is amazing! The H Tasting Lounge is another great place. It specializes in seafood and cocktails. In the winter of 2024 to 2025, the restaurant also offers their Winterlust domed dining experience.

Where is the Westin Bayshore?

The hotel’s address is 1601 Bayshore Drive. The entrance and parking lot can also be accessed via Cardero Street. The hotel is just a block or so from Devonian Harbour Park which connects with the entrance to Stanley Park.

The building is situated along the Coal Harbour waterfront which is sort of northeast of Vancouver’s West End. The location alone is an amenity of this hotel. The waterfront views are amazing! It’s also close to some of Vancouver’s best tourist attractions.

The edge of famous Stanley Park is only a 10-minute walk away. Canada Place is a bit further and in the opposite direction, but the seawall path to get there is along the water and makes for a beautiful walk or cycle. Downtown Vancouver is nearby, and some of Vancouver’s Best Bars and Restaurants aren’t too far away either.

Rooms at the Westin Bayshore

There are over 15 different types of accommodations available at The Westin Bayshore. All bedrooms are very nice and most have huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The rooms feature standard things you would expect, like televisions, ergonomic work chairs and tables. Complimentary Internet access is available to everyone in the building.

Types of rooms vary in their size and features, such as whether they have a balcony, sofa bed, additional chairs, fancier tables and more. The large International Suite features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a lounging area, a dining area, a study, and windows that showcase the elevated views of the hotel’s wonderful location.

When we stayed at The Westin Bayshore we got a room on the 18th floor overlooking Coal Harbour and Stanley Park. The room was lovely! It was modern, nicely decorated and had a king-sized bed, tiled shower bathroom and balcony. The view was truly amazing!

Note: The Westin Bayshore is a dog-friendly hotel. Dogs are welcome at no extra charge (so long as you book one of their pet-dedicated rooms). Dog guests even get to use a Westin “Heavenly Dog Bed” during their stay!

Hotel Amenities

The Westin Bayshore Vancouver has an impressive list of amenities. The hotel has a Vida Spa, a couple of on-site restaurants, a fitness centre, and an indoor and outdoor pool. Well-being programs are available for guests, such as yoga in the pools and in the on-site yoga studio.

The hotel offers running and cycling programs along the seawall. Complimentary bicycles are available for guests to use. At the hotel you can also rent e-scooters from Go Scoot. We did that during our stay and had so much fun!

Westin Bayshore Restaurants

Dining options at the hotel include the H2 Kitchen + Bar and H Tasting Lounge. Both serve “up-scale comfort food” and use farm-to-table ingredients.

The first of the two establishments is known for its rotisserie chicken, barbecued meats and local beers. It also has a fabulous outdoor patio. When we had dinner there we had the Cajun Prawn & Chorizo Skewers and the Meat Sweats for Two (which included pulled pork, beef brisket and half a rack of barbecued ribs). It was all so good! There was great live music too.

The H2 Kitchen + Bar also offers a buffet breakfast every day and brunch on weekends. It too has one of the city’s best brunches at Easter and on Mother’s Day.

The H Tasting Lounge, meanwhile, is a West Coast-style restaurant with a “smart casual” dress code. It’s open from around 11:30 am until midnight or later. It serves burgers, salads, Ocean Wise Seafood, local craft beers and cocktails, among other fine cuisine.

In addition to the above, there is T & Co which serves a range of beverages including coffees, teas and smoothies.

Hotel Swimming Pools

The Westin Bayshore has two very nice swimming pools. There is one indoors by the fitness centre. Beside it is the hot tub. Outside the hotel, in the courtyard, is arguably one of the nicest swimming pools in Vancouver. It’s beautiful!

Below is a 360-degree photo of the outdoor swimming pool. Assuming the device you are reading this article from has up-to-date technology, the photo should appear to be moving slowly, sort of like a video. If you click the photo it’ll stop moving, but you’ll be able to swipe the image to the side, or up and down, and see the pool area from 360 degrees. You should also be able to zoom in and out.

The photo of the pool was taken very early in the morning, which is why you won’t see anyone swimming. Later in the day the pool is very popular. On hot sunny days it’s like a tropical paradise!

At the Waterfront

The Westin Bayshore Hotel is right on the waterfront. The Coal Harbour Seawall is right outside. From the hotel you can see Harbour Air Seaplanes flying into Burrard Inlet. There are also lots of boats and fancy yachts in the nearby marinas.

Boats with Harbour Cruises are moored just down the way from the hotel. Right outside, on the hotel’s own docks, is the home port for a number of other tourist-related boat companies too.

If you stay at The Westin Bayshore we highly recommend you go for a walk or bike ride along the seawall while you’re there. When we stayed at the hotel we walked to Gastown and back. It took about 25 minutes one-way. The waterfront views along the way are incredible. During our stay we also rented e-scooters and went around the nearby Stanley Park Seawall. That was a lot of fun!
