Space Explorers VR Experience in Vancouver
Space Explorers: The Infinite claims to be the world’s most captivating immersive space experience, and it probably is. The touring attraction has already entertained guests in Montreal and various cities in the United States. It was in Vancouver in the fall and early winter of 2023/2024. More than 15,000 people visited between mid-November and mid-December!
The immersive experience was presented by Tandem Expositions. It’s the same company that brought Imagine Van Gogh to Vancouver a couple of years ago. This new attraction was very different, but equally if not more impressive.
Space Explorers: The Infinite offered a unique opportunity to virtually board the International Space Station as an astronaut. Guests got to enjoy 360-degree videos recorded in space as well as realistic 3D renderings through virtual reality headsets. Up to 150 people could experience the attraction at the same time.
The attraction was about a one-hour experience. First, guests journeyed through space and took in stunning views. The next scenes took place on a 3D virtual reality model of the International Space Station, where guests could move around and explore. Everyone could discover what it’s like to be an astronaut in space and also checked out exclusive footage of Artemis I, which is NASA’s exploration program to return to the moon once again and beyond.
If you were interested in getting a glimpse into space and what life is like for astronauts, this was an experience you didn’t want to miss!
Note: Due to the virtual reality headsets, Space Explorers: The Infinite was only for folks ages 8 and older. There were no exceptions.
When and Where
Space Explorers: The Infinite opened in Vancouver on November 15th in 2023. It was going to be in town until February 19th, 2024, so until the end of the Family Day Long Weekend. It was extended, however, and was in town until March 19th.
The attraction ran every day of the week except for most Mondays (as well as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve). As of the last time we checked, hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays were from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. On Fridays and Saturdays the experience ran from 11:00 am until 8:00 pm, so for two more hours. During the Christmas holidays, the place sometimes opened an hour early.
The experience happened at the Rocky Mountaineer Station, located at 1755 Cottrell Street in the City of Vancouver. The venue is a 15 to 20-minute walk from the Main Street-Science World and VCC-Clark SkyTrain stations.
