Lower Mainland New Year’s Eve Activities
The largest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Lower Mainland used to take place around Canada Place in downtown Vancouver, but not anymore. The festivities there included ticketed parties as well as free concerts and fireworks. Vancouver’s New Year’s Eve fireworks haven’t happened since 2018. Lots of other events are still taking place, however, including fireworks at a couple of Ski Hills.
See below for details about the various December 31st party places taking place in 2025. Our list includes nightclubs in the City of Vancouver and elsewhere. Our list also includes boat parties on the water, fireworks events, and more.

Metro Vancouver New Year’s Party Places

New Year’s Eve Boat Parties
One of the most popular ways to welcome the New Year is on a Vancouver Boat Parties cruise. These events offer nightclub-style atmospheres, DJs, food and drinks, and great views of the city skyline to celebrate the New Year.
For December 31st, 2025, Vancouver Boat Parties hosts the following party cruise:
- New Year’s Eve Boat Cruise – Taking place on the “Burrard Queen,” this cruise boards at 9:30 pm at Dock A (at 760 Pacific Boulevard). From there it sails from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am. Guests enjoy three hours on the water through False Creek and English Bay with DJs Brownsuga and EM1, a heated interior, open-air deck, licensed bar and pizza for purchase.
Boat parties are very popular things to do, so tickets usually sell out in advance. For more details, visit the Vancouver Boat Parties website.
Theatre to See on New Year’s Eve
A lovely way to spend the final day of the year is at a show. The Improv Centre on Granville Island has three episodes of NYE at TIC at 7:00, 9:00 and 11:00 pm. Also in the City of Vancouver, the British pantomime Jack & the Beanstalk is at Metro Theatre and the multidimensional film Soar with Santa is at Flyover at Canada Place. The musical Annie, meanwhile, is at Gateway Theatre in Richmond (and on December 31st the show includes an early New Year’s Eve champagne toast). All four of these theatre options are highly recommended!
Christmas Attractions on New Year’s Eve
Another way to celebrate the end of December is to visit a Christmas attraction. Ones still happening on New Year’s Day include Glow Christmas in Langley, Merry & Bright at Martini Town, Canyon Lights at Capilano Bridge, the Festival of Lights at VanDusen Garden, Lights by the Lake at Harrison Hot Springs and Lights at Lafarge in Coquitlam, plus a few others.
NYE Restaurant Dinners
Lots of restaurants offer special dinners and evening events on December 31st each year. Examples are listed below.
- P2B Bistro – The restaurant at the Pinnacle Harbourfront Hotel in downtown Vancouver is offering a four-course New Year’s Eve dinner in 2025 for $89 per person, with optional wine pairings for an extra $30 (which includes a glass of sparkling wine).
- Winterlust – This is a unique dining experience where you get your own private dome, seating up to six people, at the H Tasting Lounge at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in Coal Harbour.
- The Lobby – The Pinnacle Hotel in North Vancouver is offering a three-course New Year’s Eve dinner for $89 per person plus wine pairings in 2025.
- Pier 7 – This waterfront restaurant in North Vancouver’s Shipyards District celebrates New Year’s Eve in 2025 with a four-course dinner priced at $99 per person, with optional add-ons like fresh oysters and seafood towers.
- Notch8 Restaurant – inside the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, Notch8 is offering an elegant New Year’s Eve celebration for 2025 with a choice between a three-course early seating priced at $129 or a four-course late seating for $159. The latter option includes a midnight toast.
New Year’s Eve on Granville Street
There are several nightclubs on Granville Street, just south of Georgia Street, in downtown Vancouver. All fill up on New Year’s Eve, so you need to buy tickets for them in advance. Even if you don’t get into one of the pubs or official party venues, there is a lot of partying going on in the street.
On New Year’s Eve, the City of Vancouver usually shuts down Granville Street to cars. The strip becomes a pedestrian-only area, filling with crowds. You can’t drink alcohol in public on the street, but walking around and having fun is free.

December 31st at Area Ski Hills
Lower Mainland ski hills are where you can celebrate New Year’s Eve in the snow. Grouse Mountain hosts a fun event with fireworks, as does Sasquatch Resort. Cypress Mountain also hosts a smaller, slightly less formal event. It too used to involve fireworks, although not in 2025.
New Year’s Eve at GROUSE MOUNTAIN
The Family New Year’s Eve Celebration at Grouse Mountain includes skiing, the Light Walk, and fireworks by the skate pond.
Skiing is open on New Year’s Eve with regular winter hours, and the Light Walk typically opens at dusk. In 2025, Fireworks are scheduled for both 7:00 pm and midnight.
For a special dining experience, The Observatory restaurant at Grouse Mountain offers a seven-course Chef’s Tasting Menu to welcome 2026. Seatings are at 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm, timed to allow guests to enjoy the 7:00 pm and midnight fireworks. A complimentary champagne toast is also served at midnight.
The New Year’s Eve dinner costs about $195 per person and includes Skyride access from 4:00 pm. The event is for ages 19+, with tables available for parties of up to six guests. Reservations can be made through Tock or directly with the restaurant.

New Year’s Eve at SASQUATCH MOUNTAIN
Sasquatch Resort is a ski hill located in the Harrison Valley, less than 50 km west of Harrison Hot Springs.
In 2025 the resort has a Torchlight Parade which is a ticketed event that includes a Snowcat Tour, refreshments and fireworks, plus a torchlight parade down the hill that attendees can participate in. The resort also has a New Year’s Eve Bash which features kid-friendly activities, night skiing and fireworks.
To learn more about this event, see our article about NYE at Sasquatch Resort.
New Year’s Eve at CYPRESS MOUNTAIN
Cypress Mountain‘s New Year’s Eve celebration for 2025/2026 takes place in the Downhill Area with a DJ on the patio from 5:00 pm onwards. There are food and drink specials throughout the evening.
The highlight in past years has been the fireworks display at 8:00 pm to ring in the New Year nice and early. The last time we checked, however, the NYE activities were still going to happen, but likely without the fireworks.
