Aldor Acres Farm and Pumpkin Patch

Aldor Acres Pumpkin Field in Langley

Aldor Acres is a Langley-based farm that has an autumn pumpkin patch, Christmas activities in December and an Easter event in the spring.

For information about the farm in general, and its fall activities, continue reading. To learn about the venue in winter, see our article about Aldor Acres Christmas Tree Farm.

Langley’s Aldor Acres Farm

Aldor Acres is a family-run farm located in Langley in the Fraser Valley. The farm was started by the Aldor grandparents and began selling pumpkins in 1988.

Located at 8301-252nd Street, the farm is around five kilometres from the town of Fort Langley.

The Aldor Acres Pumpkin Patch

In the fall Aldor Acres holds its annual Pumpkin Festival. This is the busiest time of year for the farm as it has its pumpkin patch, petting barn and many other family-friendly activities. Thousands of people attend the event each year.

The Pumpkin Patch at Aldor Acres was open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm every day from September 23rd until October 31st last year. 2024 dates and details will likely be similar.

Fall Activities at Aldor Acres Farm

Pumpkins are the main crop at Aldor Acres. On the 20-acre farm, Aldor Acres grow over a dozen different kinds of pumpkins. To find them, folks can usually take a tractor ride out to the further fields or just walk into the closer field adjacent to the entrance.

Visitors who choose to take the tractor ride out to the pumpkin patch can board it near the goat pen. The tractor ride then winds through the farm and out to the field. There, folks can wander around the fields, take photos and find the perfect pumpkin. Once everyone is back on board, the tractor departs back to the farm.

When you’re out in the field and you’ve found your pumpkin of choice, bring it back to the tractor or the pumpkin stand and a farmer will measure it for you. The farmer slides the pumpkin into a wooden measuring tool which measures the width. (So if you buy a tall but skinny pumpkin you’ll get a great deal!)

Where Things Are

Most of the attractions can be found around the venue’s main central area. There’s a store where visitors can purchase fresh food. There are also educational farming displays and a collection of farm animals (for which feed costs about $2).

Just off to the side is the enclosed farm animal area. There you’ll find sheep, horses and lots of goats. Folks can enter the goat exhibit to feed and interact with them. (Be careful though – when the goats see the food bags they get very excited!)

Close by is a barn containing more animals and kid-friendly activities. There’s a hay pile for kids to play in along with farm animals like pigs, chickens and bunnies. Last time we visited there were baby bunnies and kittens to hold and pet!

Aldor Acres is now asking folks to BYOB (bring your own bag) to pick pumpkins. This is in order to maintain sanitary conditions throughout the farm.

Christmas Trees at Aldor Acres

Aldor Acres usually sells Christmas trees on the last weekend of November and the first weekend or two in December.

Aldor Acres at Easter

In addition to the pumpkin patch in October and a Christmas tree farm in late November and early December, Aldor Acres also hosts family-friendly activities at Easter. Don’t expect there to be an Easter Bunny at the spring event though – just a fun farm animal experience.

Tips & Suggestions

Below are some tips to help you make the most of your visit to the pumpkin patch at Aldor Acres.

TIP #1: If you like pumpkin patches, or have never been but want to check one out, this is a great venue to visit. It’s one of the Lower Mainland’s largest and most extensive pumpkin-themed farm events with a variety of things to see and do.

TIP #2: Wear boots and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, especially if it has rained recently. It is a farm after all.

TIP #3: To avoid the biggest crowds and get the best selection of pumpkins, go earlier in the season rather than later. Sunny weekends close to Halloween can be especially busy.

TIP #4: Although weekends are when the farm is at its most crowded, Saturdays and Sundays are great times to visit since that’s when there is often live music.

TIP #5: If you are planning to visit on a weekend, it’s best to go earlier in the day. The parking lot is very large with ample parking space, but traffic can get a bit backed up, especially on Saturdays and Sundays with nice weather and close to Halloween.

TIP #6: If your kids have allergies you might not want to let them play in or near the piles of hay. It’s fun to do, but there’s lots of dust (as one would expect).

TIP #7: While in the area drop by Fort Langley for a visit. It’s a beautiful little town with a National Historic Site tourist attraction.
