Glowbal Group Restaurants in Vancouver
Glowbal is a Vancouver-based chain of fancy restaurants. It’s also the name of what is arguably the group’s flagship establishment. Unlike other higher-end Casual Dining Chain Restaurants, like Cactus Club, The Keg, JOEY and others, every restaurant in the Glowbal Group is different. They each have their own distinct names, menus and decor.
Most of the Glowbal restaurants are in the heart of downtown Vancouver, concentrated largely within a few blocks of Burrard Street and West Georgia. Only Trattoria, which is in Burnaby, is not in the City of Vancouver.
All of the Vancouver Glowbal restaurants encourage business casual attire (at least when going out for dinner in the evening and eating inside). It’s not a strict dress code and they don’t refuse service to those who aren’t dressed up nicely, but if you’re wearing a hat you might be asked politely if you would remove it. Trattoria does not have a dress code recommendation.

Glowbal (on West Georgia in Vancouver)
The flagship restaurant of the Glowbal Group, the Glowbal Restaurant is located at 590 West Georgia Street. It’s a very upscale restaurant that offers a variety of fine dining options.
Dinner items include oysters, caviar and wagyu steak tartare for appetizers. The entrees feature plenty of high-quality meats from steak to lobster and more.
In addition to its more expensive options, Glowbal also offers weekend brunch which includes a special $12 Benny menu. You can pair it with one of the many options for sides and brunch entrees, or keep it simple with a delicious and affordable Eggs Benedict.
Glowbal is open late seven days a week, beginning at 11:30 am on weekdays and at 10:30 am on weekends.
Coast (on Alberni in Vancouver)
Coast is a seafood restaurant that’s right next to Black & Blue and The Roof at 1054 Alberni Street. Its most notable feature is its massive oyster bar where you can enjoy high-quality oysters from both coasts.
The restaurant offers seafood in all sorts of mediums. There’s sushi, fish & chips, pasta and soups, or you can simply order a helping of mussels or prawns.
There are various specials on different days of the week. Sunday and Monday are Lobster Nights where you can order a three-course meal that includes all sorts of lobster dish options. Then there’s Fish & Chips Fridays where you can get a food and beer special during lunch hours. Similar to Glowbal, there’s also a weekend brunch.
Coast has the same hours as Glowbal. It’s open from 11:30 am until late on weekdays and 10:30 am until late on weekends.
Italian Kitchen (on Burrard in Vancouver)
Located at 860 Burrard Street, Italian Kitchen is a bright, airy establishment that has some of the top Italian food in downtown Vancouver. You can enjoy pasta, risotto, and plenty of hearty options for secondi piatti (second plates).
Rather than a traditional Happy Hour, Italian Kitchen has an Aperitivo Hour that runs from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm each day. During that time there are a variety of cheaper appetizers on offer, some of which you can’t get at other times of the day.
Italian Kitchen is open from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm Monday to Thursday, 11:30 am to 11:00 pm on Friday, 10:00 am to 11:00 pm on Saturday and from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Sunday.
TIP: If you like Italian food, another really good restaurant to check out is Tutto in Yaletown. Located at 901 Homer Street, it’s just a 10-minute walk from the Italian Kitchen. Tutto is one of our favourite places for Italian.
Black & Blue and The Roof (on Alberni in Vancouver)
Black & Blue is a one of the premier steakhouses in Vancouver. It’s Kobe Beef certified and offers other premium cuts including wagyu, beef wellington, châteaubriand and tomahawk. The steak isn’t cheap, but it’s very high-quality. The restaurant is located at 1032 Alberni Street.
On the third floor of the building is The Roof, one of the biggest rooftop dining areas in the city. The Roof offers a slightly different (but mostly the same) dinner menu as the downstairs Black & Blue. The difference is that The Roof also offers a Happy Hour from 2:30 to 5:30 pm daily, as well as a weekend brunch.
Both Black & Blue and The Roof are open from 11:30 am to midnight on weekdays and from 10:30 am to midnight on weekends.
Five Sails (at Canada Place in Vancouver)
Five Sails is the restaurant inside the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place. It was named one of the top four fine dining restaurants in Canada by Tripadvisor in 2022.
As the restaurant sits right on the water it’s fitting that the menu includes plenty of seafood offerings. There’s also some land meats including lamb, duck, foie gras and wagyu steak.
One of the highlights of Five Sails is its afternoon tea. The classic British tradition is available from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on weekdays and from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm on weekends. There is also a cake menu in addition to the regular dessert menu.
Five Sails is open for business from 11:30 am to midnight daily, although on weekends there’s a brief closure between the end of afternoon tea at 3:30 pm and the beginning of the dinner menu at 5:00 pm.
Riley’s (on Burrard in Vancouver)
Riley’s Fish & Steak is just a block or so away from Five Sails at 200 Burrard Street. The wide-ranging menu includes an oyster bar lounge, a different lunch special each weekday and a cocktail brunch on weekends.
There is plenty of seafood and beef on the menu, complemented by cocktails, martinis and beer on tap. The oyster bar offers up fresh oysters for less than $2 each during Happy Hour.
There’s also live music throughout the week. The oyster bar lounge features musical guests on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There’s also live music at the weekend brunch from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Riley’s opens at 11:30 am on weekdays and at 10:30 on weekends.
Trattoria (on Kingsway in Metrotown)
Trattoria is the one Glowbal Group restaurant that’s located outside of downtown Vancouver. It’s at 4501 Kingsway in Burnaby. It’s on the other side of the street and a block away from the Metropolis at Metrotown Mall.
The restaurant is very similar to Italian Kitchen in what it offers. There’s plenty of pasta, pizza and other dishes, and like other Glowbal Group establishments there’s a weekend brunch as well.
Trattoria has a couple of special offers on weekdays. On Trattoria Tuesdays all pasta dishes are just $17, and on Pizza Wednesdays all pizzas are just $16.
There used to be a Trattoria in West Vancouver (at Park Royal Mall) and another one in Kitsilano. Now though, there is just the one in Burnaby.
Trattoria is open from 10:30 am until late on weekends and from 11:30 am until late on weekdays.
