Glowbal Group Restaurants in Vancouver
Glowbal is a Vancouver-based restaurant company. Its restaurants are generally higher-end. They are more upscale than most casual dining chains. Unlike other higher-end Casual Dining Chain Restaurants, like Cactus Club, The Keg, JOEY and others, every restaurant in the Glowbal Group is different. They each have their own distinct names, menus and decor.
Most of the Glowbal restaurants are in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Several are around Alberni Street, Burrard Street and West Georgia Street. Five Sails and Riley’s are closer to the waterfront. Only Trattoria, which is in Burnaby, is not in the City of Vancouver.
All Vancouver Glowbal restaurants encourage business-casual attire (at least for evening dining). It’s not a strict dress code, and they don’t refuse service to those who aren’t dressed nicely, but if you’re wearing a hat, you might be politely asked to remove it. Trattoria is more casual than the others.
Glowbal restaurants are popular and reservations are a good idea. This is especially true for dinner, weekend brunch, holidays and large groups.

Glowbal (on West Georgia in Vancouver)
The Glowbal Restaurant, the flagship restaurant of the Glowbal Group, is located at 590 West Georgia Street. The restaurant is upscale and modern, and a good choice for a date, birthday, business lunch, or dinner before a show. It has a large dining room, a bar and private dining spaces.
Dinner items include oysters, caviar and Wagyu steak tartare for appetizers. The entrees feature plenty of high-quality meats from steak to lobster and more.
In addition to its more expensive options, Glowbal offers a weekend brunch that includes a special $12 Benny menu. You can pair it with one of the many side and brunch entree options, or keep it simple with a delicious and affordable Eggs Benedict.
Glowbal is open late, seven days a week, starting at 11:30 am on weekdays and 10:30 am on weekends. Happy Hour runs from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily. There are also weekday features on certain nights.

Coast (on Alberni in Vancouver)
Coast is a seafood restaurant that’s right next to Black & Blue and The Roof at 1054 Alberni Street. Its most notable feature is its massive oyster bar, where you can enjoy high-quality oysters from both coasts.
Coast is a seafood restaurant. Its menu includes oysters, fish, lobster, seafood towers, fish and chips, mussels, prawns and other seafood dishes. The restaurant is especially good for oysters.
Happy Hour at Coast runs from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on weekdays. On weekends, it starts at 11:30 am and runs until 5:00 pm. Feature oysters are $2 during Happy Hour. The restaurant also has Fish & Chip Fridays and Lobster Nights on Sunday and Monday evenings.
Coast is a good place for seafood fans and people looking for a nice downtown dinner. Opening hours are from 11.30 am to 10.30 pm daily.
Italian Kitchen (on Burrard in Vancouver)
Located at 860 Burrard Street, Italian Kitchen is bright, stylish, and centrally located in downtown Vancouver. The restaurant serves Italian food. The menu includes pasta, seafood, meat dishes, antipasti and items made for sharing. Popular menu items include the Pasta Tower and tableside pasta dishes.
Rather than a traditional Happy Hour, Italian Kitchen offers an Aperitivo Hour from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm each day. During that time, there are a variety of cheaper appetizers on offer, some of which you can’t get at other times of the day.
Trattoria also has a weekday $20 Piatto Blu Speciale, and on Sundays, there is a 100 Layer Lasagna Dinner.
Italian Kitchen is open from 11:30 am to 10:00 pm Monday to Wednesday, 11:30 am to 11:00 pm on Thursday, 11:30 am to midnight on Friday and Saturday and from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm on Sunday.
TIP: If you like Italian food, another really good restaurant to check out is Tutto in Yaletown. Located at 901 Homer Street, it’s a short walk from the Italian Kitchen. Tutto is one of our favourite places for Italian.

Black & Blue and The Roof (on Alberni in Vancouver)
Black & Blue is one of the premier steakhouses in Vancouver. It’s Kobe Beef-certified and offers other premium cuts, including Wagyu, beef Wellington, châteaubriand, and tomahawk. The steak isn’t cheap, but it’s very high-quality. The restaurant is located at 1032 Alberni Street.
Black+Blue also dry-ages beef in a Himalayan salt-lined meat locker. The restaurant is large and dramatic, and it works well for business dinners, special occasions, and steak nights.
On the third floor of the building is The Roof, one of the biggest rooftop dining areas in the city. The Roof offers a slightly different (but mostly the same) dinner menu as the downstairs Black & Blue.
Both Black & Blue and The Roof are open from 11:30 am to midnight. Happy hour runs from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily.

Five Sails (at Canada Place in Vancouver)
Five Sails is the restaurant inside the Pan Pacific Hotel at Canada Place. This is one of the most refined Glowbal restaurants. It has harbour and mountain views, and its menu focuses on Pacific Northwest cuisine.
As the restaurant sits right on the water, it’s fitting that the menu includes plenty of seafood. There are also some land meats, including lamb, duck, foie gras, and Wagyu steak.
One of the highlights of Five Sails is its afternoon tea. The classic British tradition is available from 11:30 to 3:30 pm on weekends.
Five Sails is open for business from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm daily. The restaurant is a good choice for anniversaries, birthdays, visitors and special nights out. It is one of the more elegant places in the group.
Riley’s (on Burrard in Vancouver)
Riley’s Fish & Steak is just a block or so away from Five Sails at 200 Burrard Street. The restuarnt is close to the waterfront and Canada Place. It’s a very modern and chic space and one of the higher-end establishments in the Glowbal Group.
There is plenty of seafood and beef on the menu, complemented by cocktails, martinis and beer on tap. Happy Hour runs daily from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, and $2 Oysters are one of the deals during Happy Hour.
Riley’s also has live music. Performances happen on Wednesday to Saturday evenings and during weekend brunch. The restaurant is a good place for seafood, steak, cocktails, brunch and live music.
Riley’s opens at 11:30 am on weekdays and at 10:30 on weekends.
Trattoria (on Kingsway in Metrotown)
Trattoria is the one Glowbal Group restaurant that’s located outside of downtown Vancouver. It’s at 4501 Kingsway in Burnaby. It’s on the other side of the street and a block away from the Metropolis at Metrotown Mall.
The restaurant is very similar to Italian Kitchen in what it offers. There’s plenty of pasta, pizza and other dishes, and like other Glowbal Group establishments, there’s a weekend brunch as well.
Trattoria has several deals. Happy Hour runs from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm daily. On Tuesdays, select pastas are $18. On Wednesdays, pizzas are $17 and select bottles of wine are 50% off. There is also a $17 feature lunch.
There used to be a Trattoria in West Vancouver (at Park Royal Mall) and another one in Kitsilano. Now, though, there is just the one in Burnaby.
Trattoria is open from 10:30 am until late on weekends and from 11:30 am until late on weekdays.
