
Burnaby celebrates Canada Day on July 1st with free events at Burnaby Village Museum, Edmonds Plaza and Park, and StreetFest on Central.
The biggest celebration is StreetFest on Central. It takes place in the evening at Civic Square, Central Boulevard and Central Park. It includes concerts, family activities, food trucks and fireworks.
Burnaby used to have its big Canada Day evening event at Swangard Stadium. Since 2023, the main evening celebration has been StreetFest on Central near Metrotown.

July 1st in Burnaby
Canada Day is on Wednesday, July 1st, 2026. Burnaby has three free events that day.
The event at Edmonds Plaza and Park happens from 11:00 am until 2:30 pm. The event at Burnaby Village runs from 11:00 am until 4:30 pm. StreetFest at Central Park takes place from 6:30 pm until about 10:30 pm. All three events are free.
The daytime events are best for families and community activities. StreetFest on Central is the biggest event. It has live music, food trucks and fireworks.

Canada Day at Burnaby Village
Canada Day festivities at Burnaby Village Museum run from 11:00 am until 4:30 pm in 2026. Burnaby Village is located at 6501 Deer Lake Avenue, just off Canada Way at the edge of Deer Lake Park.
Entertainment at Burnaby Village is free, fun and educational. On Canada Day, there is live entertainment, children’s activities, displays, demonstrations, face painting, games and open exhibits.
Burnaby Village Museum is also a great place to explore on a regular day, so all the extra activities make July 1st an especially fine day to visit.

- 11:05 am – Land Acknowledgement and Coastal Wolf Pack on the Vorce Stage
- 11:30 am – Chinese fan and ribbon dance on the Market Garden Stage
- 12:00 pm – 21Strings performance on the Vorce Stage
- 12:30 pm – Rene Hugo y sus Amigos on the Market Garden Stage
- 1:00 pm – Tian-Jin Drums on the Vorce Stage
- 1:45 pm – Rancho Folclorico Cruz de Cristo on the Market Garden Stage
- 2:00 pm – Indigenous welcome on the Vorce Stage
- 3:00 pm – Cat Murphy Band on the Vorce Stage
- 3:30 pm – Kevin Takahide Lee on the Market Garden Stage

TIP: Deer Lake is beautiful. Enjoy a picnic in the park either before or after visiting Burnaby Village Museum. Also, take good walking shoes for a stroll around the lake, and maybe even your swimsuit for paddling at the beach.

Canada Day at Edmonds Plaza
Canada Day in the Plaza at Edmonds Community Centre is usually a fairly simple affair. In 2026 the festivities take place from 11:00 am until 2:30 pm at 7433 Edmonds Street.
The event includes live entertainment, kids’ activities, games, cake, and other family-friendly activities.

This is a good event for people who live in South Burnaby. It is also good for families wanting a simple daytime celebration.
Canada Day at Civic Square and Central Park
Burnaby’s largest Canada Day event is StreetFest on Central. It takes place in the evening at Civic Square, Central Boulevard and Central Park. In past years, Swangard Stadium was where the Canada Day festivities took place, but not anymore.
In 2026, StreetFest runs from 6:30 pm until about 10:30 pm. The event is free.
This year, there are live music, food trucks, dance, kids’ entertainment, family activities, community booths, and fireworks. The fireworks in Central Park start at 10:15 pm and last about 15 minutes.
The main stage is in the northeast corner of Central Park, near Patterson SkyTrain Station.

Community Zone at StreetFest
There is also a community zone at the event along Central Boulevard, which runs between Willingdon Avenue and Patterson Avenue.
This area includes sports and arts activities, photo opportunities, interactive displays, dance, and many food trucks.
TIP: Arrive early for the event to improve your chances of finding parking, and then go explore the park’s forested trails. Enjoy a picnic, and maybe bring along your swimsuit for a swim in the Central Park outdoor pool.
