Deckchair Cinema Outdoor Movies in North Vancouver

Outdoor Movie Showings are popular in the summer as people bring their blankets and popcorn to see films on giant screens in parks and other venues.

The Deckchair Cinema series of movies started up in North Vancouver in 2022. The series has continued every summer since then. In 2025 the Polygon Gallery hosted movie nights on Thursday evenings from July 3rd until August 28th. This past year’s lineup featured some of the best sci-fi films of all time.

Deckchair Cinema takes place on Cates Deck which is on the water just in front of the gallery. The movie nights begin with live entertainment and the screenings start at around sunset.

There are snacks and drinks available for purchase from different local breweries. Cates Deck is one of the public spots where you can Drink Alcohol in North Vancouver. You definitely can bring your own blankets and chairs to see the movie, however, and that’s recommended!

(Note: Your donation also gets you into the Polygon Gallery which is open until 9:00 pm on Thursdays. There is a good chance you’ll get some free popcorn too.)

Admission Details

Admission to Deckchair Cinema is by donation so you can give whatever you want. The recommended amount is typically $10 per person. The venue isn’t very big, so be sure to arrive early to get a spot.

In 2025 you could also reserve a picnic table online in advance. Each table seated six people and cost $100 to reserve.
