Movies Under the Stars is a series of outdoor film screenings at Surrey’s Holland Park. The free events take place on select Saturdays in August each summer.

In 2024 the series ran on August 3rd, 10th and 17th.

Movies Under the Stars Outdoor Films in Surrey

Movies Under the Stars is a small set of family-friendly events in Surrey. The annual series features an outdoor movie on a big screen, along with other activities for all ages. It takes place on a few Saturdays in the second half of summer. Admission is free!

Presented by the Downtown Surrey Business Improvement Association and PCI Developments, the events happen at Holland Park. The venue is located at 13428 Old Yale Road. It’s conveniently situated across the street from the King George SkyTrain Station and Central City Shopping Centre.

2024 Movie Schedule

The 2024 Movies Under the Stars schedule is below.

Saturday, August 3rd: The Bad Guys – an animated comedy about a group of criminals trying to make the world believe they’ve turned good.
Saturday, August 10th: Wonka – the origin story of Willy Wonka and his chocolate store. This film is set before Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Saturday, August 17th: Barbie – after a day out in the real world, Barbie Land doesn’t seem so perfect after all.

What to Expect

The Movies Under the Stars events begin at 6:00 pm. However, the featured film each night only starts at dusk, which is likely around 9:15 pm.

Before the movie plays, there are other activities and things to do. Live performers entertain the audience. There are kid-friendly arts and crafts as well.

While at the event, guests have the option to complete a survey. Those who do are entered into draws to win various prizes, including gift cards to stores in the area.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their own seats, which means a blanket or a lawn chair. Free popcorn is available from 7:30 pm onward on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to arrive earlier rather than later as supply is limited.

Guests can also bring their own snacks and drinks, but it’s best to buy these things at the event. The North Surrey Lions sell hot dogs, beverages and other products each night, with proceeds benefitting local charities.
