The Vancouver Mural Festival features the painting of murals in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. One of its events most years is a giant street party.

In 2024, the festival returns with a variety of events between August 7th and 11th, including the popular street party. That’s all around the same time as Dished Food Truck Fest, the Colombian Independence Picnic, African Descent Festival, Chilliwack Fair & Rodeo, BC Dumpling Festival, Chilliwack Corn Maze and Brewhalla New Westminster. Also, the week before, it’s the BC Day Long Weekend with events like Mission Ribfest, the Chilliwack Corn Festival, Brigade Days at Fort Langley, White Rock Sea Festival, Vancouver Pride Festival and a variety of other fun things.

CHILLIWACK MURAL FESTIVAL

If you like outdoor art, another event you’ll want to check out is Chilliwack Mural Festival. It usually takes place around the second week in August. In 2024, it happens on August 15th to 17th.

The Vancouver Mural Festival runs from August 7th to the 11th in 2024. The festival features murals, several pop-up events and the Mount Pleasant Street Party. A new one-day Ricecake Summer Market was introduced last year and happened on August 10th. It’s happening again on August 8th in 2024.

The Vancouver Mural Festival features over 30 new murals to check out in a number of neighbourhoods, painted by dozens of artists. There can be murals all the way from the North Shore to downtown and the West End, as well as in Marpole and the River District further south.

There are public mural tours available from August 8th to 11th this year. There’s also a VMF “Talk and Tunes” panel discussion event on August 7th, and two 19+ events held at The Bunker at 1103 Union Street on the evenings of August 9th and 10th.

Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party

The Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party is a massive event that involves public murals, art, live music and street festival activities.

The Street Party takes place on August 8th to 11th in 2024. Hours on the Thursday and Friday are from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, whereas hours on the weekend are from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

The street party portion of the festival takes place in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of Vancouver along Main Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue. Activities take place in the surrounding areas as well.

What to Expect

Folks attending the street party can expect to see thousands of people, artistic murals on buildings, dozens of market vendors, art in the street and live entertainment on a couple of stages.
