The Vancouver Mural Festival features the painting of murals in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. One of its events most years is a giant street party.
In 2023 the festival returns with a variety of events between August 4th and 13th, including the popular street party. Other unrelated events happening in the first half of the month include the African Descent Festival in Vancouver and various BC Day Long Weekend events all around the Lower Mainland. Happening at the same time as the last weekend of the Vancouver Mural Festival, in the Fraser Valley there is the Chilliwack Mural Festival, but also the Chilliwack Fair & Rodeo, Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival and National Timbersports Championships.

CHILLIWACK MURAL FESTIVAL
If you like outdoor art, another event you’ll want to check out is Chilliwack Mural Festival. It takes place on August 10th to 12th in 2023 (which includes a couple of the same days as the Chilliwack Fair & Rodeo). Also happening on the same weekend in the Fraser Valley are the Chilliwack Corn Maze and Timbersports National Championships.
2023 Mural Festival in Vancouver
In 2023 the Vancouver Mural Festival runs from August 4th to the 13th. This year’s festival features murals, several pop-up events and the Mount Pleasant Street Party. There’s also a new one-day Ricecake Summer Market on August 10th.
Last year’s Vancouver Mural Festival featured over 30 new murals to check out in 8 different neighbourhoods, all painted by about 50 artists. There were murals all the way from the North Shore to downtown and the West End, as well as in Marpole and the River District further south. This year will likely be similar.
Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party
The Vancouver Mural Festival Street Party is a massive event that involves public murals, art, live music and street festival activities.
In 2023 the Street Party takes place on August 10th to 13th. Hours on the Thursday and Friday are from 5:00 to 10:00 pm, whereas hours on the weekend are from 2:00 to 10:00 pm.
Street Party Location
The street party portion of the festival in 2023 takes place in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood of Vancouver along Main Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue. Activities take place in the surrounding areas as well.
What to Expect
Folk attending the street party can expect to see thousands of people, artistic murals on buildings, dozens of market vendors, art in the street and live entertainment on a couple of stages.
