Brewhalla in Port Moody

Brewhalla New Westminster is a new event that serves as both a beer and music festival. There are plenty of drinks, games and fun to be had.

The New Westminster event is typically held in early August from noon until 6:00 pm.

New Westminster’s Brewhalla Beer Festival

Brewhalla New Westminster debuted for the first time in 2024. The Brewhalla series first began in 2022 with events in North Vancouver, Fort Langley, Port Moody and Cloverdale. In 2023 Chilliwack replaced the Cloverdale and Port Moody events. New Westminster has joined the series this year.

Brewhalla events are for folks ages 19+ and are a celebration of all things craft beer. Around 24 breweries participate and festival-goers can enjoy their drink samples along with food, games and live music.

The New Westminster event is one of several Brewhalla Festivals that take place across the Lower Mainland. The New Westminster edition was the third Brewhalla event of 2024. It happened on August 10th. There were ones earlier in the year in North Vancouver on April 19th and in Fort Langley on May 18th. Brewhalla Chilliwack happened on October 5th.

Location and Admission

Brewhalla New Westminster takes place at Queen’s Park which is the biggest park in the city. The park is bordered by 6th Avenue to the north, 1st street to the west, Royal Avenue to the south, and McBride Avenue to the east.

General admission to the event costs around $45 per person. There are also VIP tickets available for $75 which include faster (and earlier) entry to the festival, as well as some extra drink tokens. All tickets come with a Brewhalla tasting glass and three drink tokens.

Additional tokens cost $2.50 each, or $25 for 11 tokens. Friends or family who want to go to Brewhalla together can save a bit on admission with a “buy five get one free” entry offer.

What to Expect

Similar to other Brewhalla events, the New Westminster festival is all about the craft breweries at the event. There are quite a few of them. There are also five or six food trucks where those in attendance can get burgers, hot dogs, Thai food, brownies and more.

Games to play at the event include giant Connect 4, giant Jenga and cornhole (which is a bean bag-throwing activity). There’s also a “best dressed” contest for attendees to be entered into.

While everyone eats and drinks there is live music playing throughout the festival. Bands that performed this year were Side One and BIG FUZZ.
