Vancouver’s Yaletown Candytown Street Festival

CandyTown in Yaletown

Candytown is a street festival in Vancouver along Yaletown’s Mainland Street. It features artisan, food and Christmas gift vendors in early December.

The event is a one-day affair and in 2023 it ran on Saturday, December 2nd.

Also happening in Yaletown in early December is PEBCelebratesLive which is an event showcasing film and the performing arts by members of the local disability community. It took place at the Roundhouse Community Centre on the evening of Monday, December 4th last year. It’s a really good event, everyone is welcome, and admission is free!

The Gulf of Georgia Cannery in Steveston Village is also nicely decorated this time of year, and both Fort Langley and Britannia Mine have special Christmas activities.

What Happens at Candytown?

During Candytown the 1100 block of Mainland Street is usually lined with vendors selling everything from knitted winter scarves and hats to holiday candies and hot foods for lunch. Last year, there were also ice carving demonstrations, live musicians, roaming characters, a candy station and an area for family photos. The event also features horse-drawn carriage rides where the cost is by donation.

As many as 20,000 people attend Candytown in busy years, so it’s a fairly good-sized street festival.
