Entertainment Coupons in the Lower Mainland

This article is about the Entertainment coupons that used to come in a book but are now accessed by a digital app. To learn about the membership program, continue reading. To sign up for the program to access the coupons via your phone, click here.

Although the physical books no longer exist (as of 2022), the online version does in the form of an app that you can use on your phone. To buy a membership, visit shop.entertainment.com. It costs $4.99 (USD) a month, and you’ll save so much more than that if you use at least one coupon every few weeks, which is easy to do, especially if you eat out a lot or travel.

Many of the coupons are of the buy-one-get-one-free kind, which makes them very valuable! Some also offer percentage discounts and other types of deals. The coupons also aren’t just for Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. They can be used at thousands of places all across North America!

In this article we have information about how the program works as well as examples of some of the deals you’ll find at places around the Lower Mainland.

Types of Entertainment Coupons

Discount offers with the Entertainment program can be used at various kinds of places. There are coupons for restaurants, bars and coffee shops, as well as for tourist attractions, kid-focused activity centres, shows, recreation facilities, retails stores, hotels and even car rental agencies.

Below are examples of some of the different kinds of venues where you can use your Entertainment coupons in 2023 (as of the last time we checked in January of that year).

Restaurants, Bars & Coffee Shops

The Entertainment Coupon App is full of 2-for-1 coupons for restaurants. Membership offers savings opportunities at popular local chains and fast food venues, like Freshslice Pizza. There are also discount offers for national and American brands too, like KFC, TCBY, Quiznos, Orange Julius and other places.

A number of Lower Mainland bars also have coupons in the Entertainment App including Johnnie Fox’s Irish Snug on Granville Street and Kelly’s Irish Pub in Surrey. Numerous coffee shops also have coupons in the app. The program includes so many great restaurant deals!

Tourist Attractions Coupons

Some of the Lower Mainland’s most popular tourist attractions accept Entertainment coupons. Examples include the following galleries, museums and gardens which used to be in the book and are now, as of when we checked in January of 2023, also on the mobile app.

Vancouver Galleries, Museums & Gardens

BC Sports Hall of Fame – a sports museum located at BC Place Stadium.
Vancouver Police Museum – a museum about crime, criminals and the city’s policing history. (Note: The discount here is just 20% off, as opposed to the more common 2-for-1 deal offered by most places.)
Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Garden – an Oriental garden in Vancouver`s Chinatown.
H.R. MacMillan Space Centre – the science museum about space with a planetarium in Vanier Park.
Vancouver Maritime Museum – a family-friendly museum about boats and the history of the Pacific Northwest and Arctic.
False Creek Ferries – mini harbour ferries that run up and down the waters of False Creek, from Science World to Granville Island and beyond.

Other attractions in the coupon app as of the last time we checked include the Stanley Park Horse-Drawn Tours, Forbidden Vancouver Walking Tours, Cycle City, Vancouver Water Adventures and others. You used to also be able to use coupons at the Museum of Anthropology. That venue is closed for most of 2023, however, due to structural upgrades.

Attractions Elsewhere in Metro Vancouver

Below we list examples of coupons at places of interest in various other municipalities in the Lower Mainland. This is in addition to dozens of restaurants which are too many to mention here (but which we talk about in our article about Vancouver Entertainment Coupon Restaurants).

Coupons Places in Surrey, the Fraser Valley and Richmond

In Langley there are coupons for games to Langley Rivermen Hockey games and to places like Go Bananas, Castle Fun Park, Chuck E. Cheese and the Canadian Museum of Flight. Further out in the Fraser Valley, you can get 2-for-1 admission at the Kilby Historic Site.

For people who like bowling, there are coupons for Sandcastle Lanes, Scottsdale Lanes and Dell Lanes in Surrey (where with the last one the coupon is for their pizza). Also in Surrey, there are coupons for places like the Coastal Climbing Centre and Bose Family Corn Maze. You can also get a free second bag of paintballs at Ambush Paintball or a 2-for-1 small bucket of balls at Birdies & Buckets.

Places with coupons in Richmond, meanwhile, include Vancouver Whale Watch (for 15% off), the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, Indoor Kart Racing at TBC, Nu-Zone Tactical Laser Tag, Time Escape, Kidtropolis and Richmond Aquatics.

In Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and the Tri-Cities

There are coupons in the app for Hollywood 3 Cinemas and Golden Eagle Golf Club in Pitt Meadows and the Rock Wall Climbing Gym in Maple Ridge. Coupons for attractions in the Tri-Cities include ones for bowling at Port Coquitlam Bowl, skating or swimming at the Port Moody Community Centre, and golf at Westwood Plateau (where the 4th person is free at the course in Coquitlam).

Coupon Places in New West, Burnaby and the North Shore

In New Westminster you can get 50% off games at Planet Lazer or a free second hour of jumping at the Extreme Air Trampoline Park. In Burnaby you can get 50% off with Deer Lake Boat Rentals at Deer Lake.

There are also coupons for The Hive Bouldering and Edge Climbing Centre in North Vancouver. And if you head up the Sea to Sky Highway, you can get 50% off admission at the Britannia Mine Museum.

Retail & Store Coupons

The are also coupons for retail stores in the Entertainment Coupon App. As of the last time we checked, there were coupons at various locations of Pharmasave, Claire’s, House of Knives, Sherwin Williams, Ardene, Soccer West, Banana Republic Factory and other places.

Travel & Car Rental Agency Coupons

A number of automobile rental agencies offer a variety of discount choices. Car rental coupons range from extra free days to complimentary upgrades to dollar-amount discounts off the total price.

Car companies with coupons in the Entertainment App typically include Avis, Budget and Payless, and most are valid throughout both Canada and the United States. You can also get deals on hotels, flights and even cruises!

Entertainment coupons are both valuable and flexible. You can use them most days of the year and for a wide range of products at hundreds of venues. Some restrictions, however, do apply. Coupons aren’t valid on certain dates, for example, and items already on sale are usually excluded.

Other typical days of the year when Entertainment coupons aren’t valid include the following:

New Year’s Day on January 1st
Valentine’s Day and Family Day in February
St. Patrick’s Day on March 17th
Easter in March or April (depending on the specific year)
Mother’s Day and Victoria Day in May
Father’s Day on the third Sunday in June
Canada Day on July 1st
BC Day on the first Monday in August
Labour Day on the first Monday in September
Thanksgiving on the second weekend in October
Remembrance Day on November 11th
Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve in December

Other special occasions are also excluded sometimes depending on the merchant. For example, a Mexican restaurant might exclude May 5th because it’s Cinco de Mayo, and other places might exclude an entire holiday weekend as opposed to just the one official statutory holiday.

Note: If restaurants always gave things away at half price on their busiest days of the year they wouldn’t stay in business for very long. The same applies to tourist attractions. The point of the coupons is to encourage people to visit on regular “non-special” days, which makes total sense.

Coupon Tips and Advice

Below are some tips and suggestions to help you make the most out of your Entertainment coupons.

TIP #1: To make sure a specific coupon is valid on a given day and for what you want, we recommend you ask before placing your order in each situation. And if it isn’t valid on a given date, don’t fret! Be gracious and go back on a different day or go somewhere else.

TIP #2: When you plan to be in a different part of town for something, we suggest you look through the coupon app in advance to see what restaurants and attractions are in the area. You can look for coupons via the app on your phone or via your computer.

TIP #3: Don’t forget that there are coupons on the app for all over North America. When you are in Vancouver you’ll find coupons for places in the Lower Mainland. If you go to Victoria, you’ll find coupons then for places in that community. And if you travel to Toronto or New York, you’ll find lots of coupons on your phone that you can use there too!

Entertainment Coupons For Children

About the Vancouver Entertainment Books

The final edition of the physical coupon books was in 2021. Today, the app contains many of the same coupons, plus a whole lot more! Whereas the physical book cost around $50 (US), today the app costs $4.99 a month, or $34.99 for the year.

Hard copies of the Vancouver and Vancouver Island Area edition of Entertainment Books were filled with coupons, including hundreds of 2-for-1 deals for restaurants and attractions in the Lower Mainland. In the books there were coupons for venues in Abbotsford, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Langley, Maple Ridge, the North Shore, New Westminster, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver and everywhere in between.

Starting in 2019, the books also included dozens of coupons for places in Duncan, Nanaimo, Victoria and other parts of Vancouver Island too. Previously, Vancouver Island had its own separate book. In the 2019 and 2022 editions, however, you got coupons for both regions – the Island and Lower Mainland – for the price of one.

The 2021 book’s full retail price online was about $50 (US). It could usually be purchased through a school or non-profit’s fundraising activities in the early fall for $50 or so (CAD), and online for a discount later in the following year.
