Greendale Acres Farm and the Chilliwack Corn Maze
Located about 90 km from downtown Vancouver, Greendale Acres actually used to be called the “Chilliwack Corn Maze”. A few years ago that was its official name, but not anymore. The farm hosts lots of great events over the course of the year. Arguably its most famous event is the Chilliwack Corn Maze.
With corn mazes and pumpkin patches being a traditional part of fall in the Lower Mainland, the Chilliwack Corn Maze is a popular place. The corn maze has been in operation since 1999, with 2023 being its 25th year!
In addition to the corn maze and pumpkin patch in autumn, Greendale Acres hosts events at other times of the year too, including in the spring and summer. The farm is actually an attraction that’s popular with children and young families for much of the year. The venue can also be rented for private functions.
Where is Greendale Acres
Greendale Acres is located at 41905 Old Yale Road in Chilliwack. The farm is set on about 20 acres of land, about 12 of which are used for events. There’s the Chilliwack Corn Maze in late summer and fall as well as other family-friendly events and activities throughout the year.
The farm is located close to where the Chilliwack Sunflower Festival takes place in the late summer and early fall. The two venues are on the same road and only about a kilometre apart.
About the Chilliwack Corn Maze
Each year Greendale Acres constructs a new layout for their corn maze. In 2020 the maze was designed around the word “together” to represent how the world came together in the face of COVID. The design featured the word along with a depiction of the earth surrounded by people holding hands.
In 2021, the maze’s design featured the word “Wander”, along with large outlines of a mountainous landscape. The design was meant to inspire folks of all ages to stay present and seek joy in everything.
The 2022 corn maze design was made in partnership with Science World. There was a T. Rex on the right side and a chicken on the left side. The maze connected the two different species as both belong to the Theropoda group.
Fun Fact: The corn maze is usually made out of corn used for cow feed. The corn is not sweet and so is not good to eat. At the end of the season, all the corn from the maze is chopped up and fed to cattle.
Admission to the Corn Maze
In 2022 tickets were available both online and on-site. Unlike in years past, there weren’t tiers for admission prices based on people’s ages. Everyone ages 3 to 74 paid the same price during the fall season: $16 when paying online and $18 at the door. Infants and seniors ages 75 and up were free.
Dates and Hours
The corn maze and the pumpkin patch are usually open at different times due to the different growing seasons of each crop. The corn maze usually runs each year from around mid-August until Halloween. In 2021 the maze was open from August 13th until October 31st.
