Easter Bunny Art at Fantasy Farms

Fantasy Farms is an attraction in Chilliwack that hosts terrific seasonal events. New for 2024 are A Night of Illumination Easter egg hunting events for adults.

The farm is where you’ll find Petey’s Easter Eggstravaganza in the spring each year, and both Petey’s Pumpkin Patch and Reaper’s Maze of Terror for Halloween in autumn. In 2024, Fantasy Farms has a number of Family Easter Night events too.

This year A Night of Illumination happens for the first time ever on the last three Saturday evenings in March. It’s an ages 19+ Easter-themed event with cool lights in the dark! The farm also hosts Family-Friendly Easter Activities that are fun for kids between March 16th and 31st.

Where and When

Fantasy Farms is a farm in the Fraser Valley. Its address is 9423 Gibsons Road. It’s about halfway between downtown Chilliwack and Bridal Falls Provincial Park. It’s also between about one and two hours by car from Vancouver depending on traffic. (When we left the event at 9:15 pm on the first night we were back home in North Vancouver by 10:30. It was well worth the trip!)

A Night of Illumination adult Easter egg hunts take place for the first time at Fantasy Farms on the Saturdays on March 16th, 23rd and 30th in 2024. There are three sessions each evening. They begin at 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Because it doesn’t get dark until around 8:00 pm, the first group waits until around 8 o’clock before starting. The second group begins their hunt shortly after. At the event, attendees get to relax in an outdoor bar area with fire pits. They can hang out there again for a bit after their egg hunt too if they want. (Note: If the weather doesn’t cooperate, this part of the event can take place indoors instead.)

A Night of Illumination is an Easter egg hunt event for adults. Family-friendly Petey’s Easter Eggstravaganza, meanwhile, is for kids and their parents. It takes place every day except for Mondays between March 16th and the 31st. There are also Family Night Easter events on the evenings of March 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th and 31st. For details about these other events, see the Fantasy Farms website.

Admission Prices

To book your adult egg hunt, click A Night of Illumination. For that event, you have to reserve your spot online in advance. With the family-friendly events, however, both the ones during the day and at night, you can just show up and pay at the gate.

A Night of Illumination costs $45.00 per person (plus $4.62 in taxes and online fees). For that you get a glass of wine or beer and some charcuterie treats. Admission also includes a cool, indoor UV light experience with glow in the dark displays, a glow in the dark Easter egg hunt, and time to hang out with friends around a fire. You can buy more drinks if you want to. They cost between about $2 and $7 depending on what you get. There are also prizes.

What to Expect

You can expect a fun time at A Night of Illumination (and at the other Easter events at Fantasy Farms too).

There are three time slots for the adults-only event. You can book your start for 7:00 pm, 8:00 pm or 9:00 pm. After checking in when you arrive, you get a drink ticket and your special UV light glasses. Wearing your glasses, you walk through a magical corridor full of glowing, colourful, three-dimensional displays. At the end is a large room where you meet your hosts before heading outside. The Easter Bunny is likely there to greet you too.

Before The Egg Hunt

When the group is ready, everyone heads out to an outdoor patio-like spot with seating areas and about half a dozen fit pits. It’s beautiful! It’s a nice place to hang out, chat with friends, enjoy a drink or two, and wait for the Easter egg hunt. (Note: If it’s raining, instead of enjoying the drinks outside, there is an indoor space folks can use.)

The group that starts at 7:00 pm has to wait a bit longer than the other groups before doing the Easter egg hunt. It’s important that it’s dark, so things can’t start until after dusk. When the time is right, everyone heads to the special egg-hunting grounds.

The Glow-in-the-Dark Egg Hunt

The egg hunt happens outdoors in a wide-open, enclosed area that’s decorated with brightly coloured giant mushrooms, flowers, an Easter egg tree and other displays, all of which glow in the dark. Wearing their special EV glasses, when the host yells go, participants race out in search of eggs of different colours. To win a prize, participants need to find one egg of every colour. There is a single unique egg too. If you find that, you get the bonus prize!

The egg hunt is a lot of fun. It’s not difficult. The eggs are easy to find. Everything glows in the dark, which makes for a cool and almost psychedelic experience.

Post-Egg-Hunt Hanging Out

After the egg hunt, everyone returns to the outdoor seating area with the fire pits to enjoy their charcuterie treats (which include things like pickles, a couple of olives, cheeses, meat sticks and crackers). They can also buy another drink from the bar if they want and enjoy the rest of the evening with their friends (up until about 10:00 pm).

Other Information

In addition to A Night of Illumination, for Easter in 2024, Fantasy Farms hosts Petey’s Easter Eggstravaganza and Family Nights. A Night of Illumination is for adults only. The other two events, however, are for children to do with their families. Petey’s happens every day except Mondays between March 16th and 31st from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm. Family Night Train Rides & Easter Egg Hunts happen on March 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th and 31st from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. For details about all of these events, visit the fantasyfarmsinc.ca website.

The Family Night events are kind of like a combination of A Night of Illumination and Petey’s Easter Eggstravaganza. Similar to A Night of Illumination, Family Nights takes place in the evenings, in the dark, and they involve glow in the dark egg hunting. Similar to the Petey’s event during the day, Family Nights features kid-friendly activities.
